Driving ~30mph on a dead end road in a neighborhood full of children and pets and going around a curve is not legal.

The chick who hit my cat was 18 and had already been in 3 wrecks caused by herself and speeding.

I was 2 feet away from hitting a wild turkey on my way back to Raleigh in Greenville, SC. It was the funniest and most random thing to see a goofy ass turkey coming at your car.

Is the speed limit less than 30mph? If so then what you're describing is perfectly legal. Unwise, sure, but it still isn't her fault if an animal wanders into the road and gets itself run over.

Yeah I've never hit a dog *knock on wood*, but have run over like 2 cats and have almost hit others. But yeah, as much as I love cats, I won't swerve. Def not tryna end up like that Explorer in the pic on page 1. Wow. It's sad, but life DOES go on.

And now that I think about it, my neighbor who used to take me home from the bus stop, actually ran over my cat in FRONT OF MY HOUSE as I was calling her to come up to eat. Talk about heartbroken!!!

You should have hit it. That would've been good eating.

I've never hit any animal other than a possum. Tally must be up to like 4. Always hanging out on blind corners at night.

In middle school my bus driver hit a dog. He sped away and we never went down that shortcut again

This thread makes me

I can understand why some say they don't swerve, but I at least hope you try braking. I used to carpool with a kid that ran over things frequently. It pissed me off because we saw the animals CLEARLY in the road (with ample time to stop), and he never braked. Just kept going. I didn't ride with him after the 3rd time.

Would it be her fault if she hit a kid that got away from their parents and ran out into the road while she was flying down the road? I think the answer would be yes.
And yes I know that I should have expected this when my cat was outside, but I'm sorry, when she drives like that my cat would have had no time to get out of the way anyway, no one would have. Kids play in the neighborhood all the time. This is one of those streets where kids play on the street because everyone knows it's a neighborhood with kids there outside playing.
You don't go that fast when you're driving on a road that is less than a quarter mile long that ends in a dead end and you're not even going the whole way down the road.

Quick! Someone re-write the chorus to "I kissed a girl" for this situation. Although it disturbs me that I've even heard the chorus, but I think it was related to capitalism...

I brake, but I don't swerve. Hell I don't even swerve when I should (like potholes and stuff); it just doesn't register in my brains

If she is going the speed limit or under. No.

It is easy for the police to get you to admit it is your fault so if this does happen to you:
1. Don't talk to the police.
2. Call your lawyer.
