God forbid they want the movie to actually make money. They don't want another bomb like Watchmen.

But would they get an R rating today? It seems they are a little more leniet now a days. The first Terminator had violence, but it wasn't excessive, didn't have much cussing, and had one not very racy sex scene. I guess the sex scene might qualify for an R rating, but I don't think violence does anymore.

^There are a few parts in the first Terminator that probably pushed it into R-rated territory. In the very beginning when Arnold comes back and is trying to get the clothes from those punks... he rips the guys heart right out of his chest and I think it shows the heart in his hand. Also there is the part when he gets shot in the eye and he is removing the bullet with the scalpel... the effects aren't that great today but back then it was pretty gross... followed shortly by the part when the dude knocks on the door and it has his reply selection menu that is like

"Go away"
"Fuck you"
"Fuck you, asshole"
etc.

And the part when Kyle Reese has the nightmare about being back in the war and he gets burned alive.

Trivia: The punk was played by a young Bill Paxton, who is one of only two actors to be killed on screen by a terminator, an alien, and a predator.

Sounds like they are going to use Arnold for this flick. They'll be using older footage and will fit it in

If you're on the PG-13/R fence, it makes too much financial sense to go the PG-13 route. PG-13 is not going to kill the movie. As mention, PG-13 can get away with alot more these days.

Yeah, 13 year-olds nowadays can deal with a lot more tits and gore than they could in 1984.

In all honesty, why doesn Terminator need boobs? If I want to see boobs, even if I'm a teenager, I know where to go. And it ain't to the multiplex. Now, I don't want my movies cutting back on the violence to make PG-13. But, if they do what they want, and making PG-13 only requires a few gratuitious scenes I can cut for the theater and included in the "unrated" DVD version, why not? If I'm an exec and I know my ass is on the line for the overall profitability of the film I know where I stand.

Thing is, you can pretty much pretend T3 never happened since it didn't actually change anything. It was just "this is how judgement day went down", and that was it.

What was wrong with the 3rd movie? It had enough action and it didn't break the original storyline in any way (I like that it ended with them not being able to stop judgment day). Sure it wasn't as good as the first two, but I think it was fine for a trilogy.

And like Shrike said, since it didn't really change anything from the plot, it should not impact the coolness of the terminator universe from the perspective of what happened in the first two movies.

Are you freaking kidding me?

1) "No Fate." You need to go back and watch Terminator 2 over again until you appreciate this more.

2) Skynet is now an internet worm. You know, to hell with the fact that it's a process of a computer being given command of U.S. military forces after demonstrating a flawless performance record, learning at a geometric rate, and upon becoming self-aware, terminating humanity as an act of self-defense after the humans decided to pull the plug.

Nope. It's all a hokey computer virus that just - pop - turned on and instantly decided to destroy humanity.

Sarah Connor Chronicles - the television show - did a much better job of preserving the original Skynet concept while expanding it in new directions, most importantly without fucking it up.

^the fact that its spread across millions of computers in no way changes what it is. The software was learning at a geometric rate.

It always seemed like Skynet would be crippling itself by nuking cities and thus destroying a huge number of online computers and infrastructure if it was actually a worldwide thing.

Terminator 3 was a good action movie, and from the point of the dad dying on was really really good.

Terminator Salvation looks incredible, there is no way it can be as good as these trailers indicate. PG-13 is worrying, but I have faith. We'll see.

Except for the whole, you know, parallel architecture discovered at Cyberdine and developed by Miles Dyson that was supposedly necessary for this to all occur, the progressive track record of performance as a reason for Skynet to have access to all these things, self-awareness and its human response as a reason for Skynet choosing to wipe out humanity...

Oh yeah, sure, outside of those things, completely the same.

Next up, we compare why Hamlet and Chronicles of Riddick are too, in fact, exactly the same. You know, gripping drama, action, and such. (Obviously the same!)

I really don't want to see it, but I think I will anyway. The new trailer at the front of X-Men in Mission Valley was good... Not too happy with Christian Bale, but this is a more abrasive role for him, so we'll see.

Anyone know that song it is playing during the trailer?

The soon to be released soundtrack has Rooster by Alice in Chains on it, but I don't think that is what is being sung in the latest trailer.

We're actually getting this at Galaxy, which is pretty hilarious (we've never played a mainstream movie like this before, but we picked it up since indie stuff has been so slow lately).

Showtimes for Thursday through next Thursday are 1:00, 4:00, 7:00, and 9:35. Adult tickets $8, student / matinee tickets $6. Come watch Batman fight robots and have a beer.

i did think the plot was somewhat predictable, but terminator plots aren't typically mindfuck material

probably my favorite part was the motorcycles shooting off of the big decepticon thing's legs, even though batman already did something similar
