is AIM something that has to be downloaded on BB's? That could be my problem

Last time I checked, I thought you had to pay to download it, but I'll check the BB site

I like the 'D' and 'R' to see if a message was delivered or read...also its handy when the email server goes down since you can't use email to tell someone the email server is down

^I've got a program called Web Messenger 2.5...it was free to download, and you can use AIM, Yahoo, MSN and I think ICQ

okay heres the deal, at one point I know alltell blocked AIM on BB's, I think that had changed. On your phone go to mobile.blackberry.com on of the first things on there should be download AIM. If that doesn't work let me know I have another solution for you.

negative. Windows mobile is the absolute worst part about non-blackberry smart phones. It's laggy, it crashes at least once a day and it takes 3-4 more clicks or buttons than should be needed to do routine shit like check messages. It also doesn't play very nicely with Google apps. I had an HTC tilt for a long ass time because I wanted 3G capability and some of the media options and I ended up going back Blackberry. Of course, it depends on what you are using it for, but the BB is far superior in my mind.

^^not all of them. I have the T-Mobile Shadow (Made by HTC) and T-Mobile did a great job tweaking the ui and making it pretty. Never crashed, not laggy or anthing. The only thing it is lacking is 3g, but with wifi and free T-Mobile hotspots I don't mind.

It has push email that is easier to setup on an exchange server than any blackberry, and the keypad on this phone is the best i have used on ANY device.

I don't use google apps so i dont know about them, but microsoft livesearch works great. (and i didnt know some phones didnt have facebook, mine does)

I downloaded AIM and set all the permissions to allow, but none of my "buddies" show up as online and I can't send/receive messages. People can see that I'm online though.

As for programs, I'm looking for some - anyone know of any good ones/lists. I'm hesitant to google "Free blackberry applications" too much shit out there.

Right now I'm using:

Vlingo (doesn't auto-dial though - wtf????????? - auto dialing is enabled, but it won't do it)

Flycast
AIM
BB messenger
Facebook (needs to be updated big time - so much potential, but so much fail right now.
