"Is Wade Phillips this kind of leader? I know he’s a defensive lulu, but does he have the skills to puppeteer this team to a title? I don’t know. It’s a perplaxico issue.

Of course, all this goes back to Jerry Jones. We all know he calls the spots there. He’s the Big Kahlua! I think Jerry is building this team the wrong way. He’s always going after big name free agents. THAT IS NOT HOW YOU PLAY THE CASTRATION OF A SOLID TEAM. He needs to get back to put what put the Cowboys on top back when I played: HE MUST REMEMBER TO ALWAYS MASTURBATE THE BALL DOWN THE FEEL!"

"how is he annoying? all he does is break down plays, thats it. He doesnt yell, or have weird stupid opinions, he just talks about X's and O's, which I find very entertaining

Yeah, but I hate that voice he does when he breaks down plays, where he emphasizes words like COVER 2 and MAN-TO-MAN and is all serious like the play he just broke down was the final ultimate play that decided the Super Bowl.

His analysis is still good though, he just gets kind of annoying to me eventually.

HE is so bad. I can actually hear him getting fatter while he tries to provide input.

I think Moose Johnson is pretty good in the booth actually.

Only two mentions of Tom Jackson in this entire thread, are you fucking kidding me?

1.) Tom Jackson
2.) Ron Jaworski
3.) Steve Young
4.) Mark Schlereth
5.) Howie Long

Troy Aikman does Cowboy games all year and is biased as fuck and I can't stand him.

TOM JACKSON and JAWS are in a league of their own

My top 5:

1. John Madden
2. Pat Summerall
3. Tom Jackson
4. Tim Ryan (Best color guy out there right now in my opinion)
5. Mike Golic

Honorable mention to Tony Siragusa because I think he's a good sideline guy and he's hilarious.

Worst:

1. Michael Irvin
2. Dion Sanders
3. Shannon Sharp
4. Emmit Smith
5. Chris Collinsworth

Calling John Clayton the Crypt Keeper was probably the nail in his coffin.

If Jaws is not in your top 5 then you know nothing about sports and should not be allowed to post in the sports threads

5) Boomer Esiason

Even though he isn't an analysts per say I really enjoy Mike Golic. Jesse Palmer has been doing a good job lately in the college game.

I agree with ItsNme

as per the question of why Salisbury left, I heard it's cause he was tired of not being treated as well as other analysts who had better football careers

"Salisbury suggested, according to Profootballtalk.com, that he was unhappy with his salary and status compared to those analysts who were more prominent players in their NFL careers. Salisbury explained, saying that “I’d grown tired of being punished for not being an NFL superstar,” He also complained that “analysts who don’t work as hard as me, don’t prepare as hard as me, and don’t have my resume were making more than me just because of their ability to throw or catch a football.”"

are you kidding me?? it seemed like he was a second away from death every time he spoke. not to mention after a good play would happen it would take him at least 10 seconds to process it

sure he had the classic voice and style, but he was terrible. and he wasn't an analyst anyways, he was a play-by play-guy

another top 5 analyst list revised:
1. jaws
2. mark schlereth
3. tom jackson
4. steve young
5. howie long

That's ridiculous. I agree he's a good analyst, but not having him in your top 5 doesn't mean you know nothing about sports. This is a pretty subjective thread man.

^^ You're right. For some reason I was thinking both analyst and announcer and was basing it mostly on how good he USED to call games. He was announcing the Texas Tech / Ole Miss game last week and it was pretty painful to listen to.

1. John Madden
2. Tom Jackson
3. Tim Ryan (Best color guy out there right now in my opinion)
4. Mike Golic
5. I guess Schlereth. Maybe Solomon Wilcotts. I dunno. I just can't get into Jaworski. Too much of an Eagles homer.
