I wonder where he learned that. Surely not from his fat degenerate father.

so is Marmol officially the closer now or had Gregg just pitched consecutive days or something?

Zambrano pwnd by the Cardinals as usual but then the STL bullpen shows up....

Gregg is not great, but he's pretty good, and Marmol is great as a setup guy...I think Lou will be torn

Today proves that Lou trusts Marmol more than anyone else in the bullpen; Gregg will remain the "official" closer though. It's also pertinent to remember that Marmol racked up a lot of saves last year despite Wood being closer.

meh, he had 7 last year compared to Wood's 34

Gregg had 32 2 years ago in Florida and 29 last year in Florida...he also had the cool distinction of getting a Save and a Win in the same day (double header)

I just figured when they got rid of Wood, they'd promote Marmol...the fact they even signed Gregg was confusing

I guess this doesn't really apply to a closer, but I should've said Marmol had a lot of 9th inning appearances last year

Marmol is such a good pitcher, he's worth having on a fantasy team in a shallow league simply for his ERA, WHIP and Ks, regardless that he doesn't get a ton of saves

Could be worse though...they could have a solid closer, and a shitty setup guy who always blew holds

marmol as SU is fine
just stay away from marmol as closer

It is and Bradley has played about half the team's games. The guy is a cancer even when he is good which obviously right now he is not. I would not want him near my team.

No one is going to argue with you that his signing didn't have certain risks, but let the season play out.

This team has not been looking so hot. Thanks to the Riot for the GS today, else I'd be falling into even more of a pit of depression.

i certainly would have preferred keeping derosa, but there's plenty of season left for bradley to get comfortable/not team-destroying.

At the cubs game tonight, in the bleacher seats right behind me, the two couples dressed in cub gear were more interested in playing drunken grabass whiteness with each other rather than watching the cubs try to mount an eventual failed comeback (they lost 2-1). still, they were only down 2-1 at the 7th inning stretch!! though, they were still down 2-1 at the top of 8th...hence the stream of cub fans leaving (!?!)

fans also consistently booed soriano despite him going something like 2 for 3 (not sure on the sheet) with a base hit in the bottom of the ninth. this is why I hate cub fans and not the cubs.

c'mon man!

(yes, I was at a cubs game for my brother's birthday, didn't wear anything offensive and grew immediately tired of the token white sox fan who not only applauded cub failure but made sure to look back to see if anyone saw him applauding before his girlfriend grabbed him down to his seat)

Only 3 games back with plenty of ball to play. Id love to see us make the playoffs again and maybe just maybe win a damn game this year. Otherwise let the next 100 years of world series drought begin I suppose. Im not getting any younger and one of the things on my list to do before I die is see the Cubs win a world series lol

Kevin Hart? cool

He's got a good ERA but really needs to work on that 1:5 K:BB ratio

Yea... he's got this thing where he'll absolutely kill it in the minors for awhile and get called up. once he's in the game, he starts to flub though.

I believe this is his first game as a starter and Lou has said that he'll probably remain in rotation, so the whole Hart family flew up to Chicago this morning to watch and celebrate.

^ While I think that it is worth the loss to the Cards to acquire Holliday, I am not completely sold that he is that great of a hitter when he doesn't have Coors to rely on 50% of the time. His stats in Oakland were bad, granted it is a pitcher's park. I do think it'll make Pujols more deadly as he'll get more pitches to it.

If Holliday gets back to somewhat hitting like he did with the Rockies and Ludwick hits like he did last year, that is a scary 3-4-5.
