wat.

50% of this thread is people hating baseball, it's not like there's much of any content going on. Yankees are going to make the playoffs because they bought two of the better pitchers in baseball but they're going to fail yet again because that's the new Yankee way.

See here is the problem I am ok with guys like Ernie, NyM410, or Goliax ragging on the Yanks. They have teams they root for, have declared themselves fans of those teams Braves, Mets, Redsox respectively. You however just come on here hating so no one cares about what you say.....thus no value add. Root for a team, and discuss otherwise you are just a n00b hater.

I'm a Rangers fan, we suck, I deal with it. Yankees still fail with an ungodly payroll.

^^ you might be the only person i've seen on TWW to consistently use the term "n00b."

also anyone who thinks baseball sucks just doesn't get it. the only complaint i ever hear about it is that it's boring. at any given time there are a hundred different things going on, and it's a pretty constant mind fuck. unless you've played it extensively or understand every facet of the game, you seriously don't realize the amount of depth to it.

Its boring to watch/not participate in for a lot of people. I can definitely understand people enjoying it as I have stated in other threads, but I just get too bored with it as a spectator. It wasnt a particularly engaging sport for me playing it growing up either, but I did enjoy it some and love playing in my local adult softball league now.

But as a spectator its like watching chess for me. I enjoy playing chess and it is also a complex game, but I couldn't sit through many games between even the best chess players in the world.

The NFL is where the action is

NON-STOP ACTION

for seven seconds, then they stand around for 45 seconds

THEN THEY DO IT AGAIN

I agree with you Ernie the NFL has much more non-stop action. I love the NFL also, but I do love baseball as well. Baseball albeit not as exciting as the NFL is something you either love or find real boring. I love all the possibilities, the stats, and the history, I don't compare it to the NFL . But more just look at another great sport. But hey....That's just me.

I like baseball, but honestly if you consider most of the things that happen during a baseball game a "mind fuck", you might want to see a doctor.

that's fine. i don't mind when people put it that way. you're not one of the ones on this thread saying shit like this though:

Quote :
"worst

sport

ever"

i'm not a big fan of soccer, but to be fair i never played as a kid, and i realize there's more to it than i understand. i sort of rip on the sport to some of my friends who played, but i'm not serious about it. i wouldn't shit up a soccer thread talking about how much it sucks when i'm not really qualified to make any sort of statements about it. many people here probably don't really know jack shit about baseball and therefore have no business saying anything about it.

ok i suppose i may have worded it wrong. i was just referring to everything that goes on in between every pitch between the coaches, pitchers, catchers and other position players on the field. and if you try to put yourself into the shoes of the batter or pitcher and try to anticipate what's gonna happen next then it can get pretty exciting even though it may not appear that much is happening to the casual viewer.

29 days until Pitchers and Catchers report

It looks like after the Yanks went out and bought up almost all the talent out there the owners are now calling for a Salary Cap. I am glad the Yanks got who they got, but I agree that a salary cap is way over due in baseball.

Drayton McLane was the only owner crying for a salary cap at the winter meetings. It's a stupid idea, Richard Justice wrote a really great column on it for Sporting News a few weeks ago.

Yeah I just read the article, Thanks Ernie. So I guess I need to re-phrase my comment. A salary cap would be good If and only if the owners were willing to significantly lower the price of tickets and food and drink at the stadiums. Realistically I know that will never happen so point taken....

28 days until Pitchers and Catchers report.

I wonder who Manny will end up with. I am still thinking the Yankees, and I am wondering if the Braves should take a chance on Jones since if he was to get it back together he would help them offensively.

Yankees have to get him considering they spent so much on mediocre Burnett, you'd think they'd be willing to spend money for the best player available, right? God I would hate to be a Dodgers fan to only have Manny for a short period and then see my owners puss out...

Oh please no. I'm what you would call a casual Braves fan, mostly out of not really having another team to support, and I would be pissed if they wasted money on him.

Well the only reason I say maybe the Braves would take a chance on him is that they could prob get him cheap, and the upside is pretty good, but I agree it is a pretty big risk.

CBS MLB website says 23 days until pitchers and catchers report - so consider this a recalculation.

Jeff Kent retiring at 40 - I liked him cause he didn't take any crap off that POS Bonds.

^^ i liked him because of that time he fell off his motorcycle and broke his hand and tried to say he fell out of the bed of his truck while he was washing it because there was something in his contract about not riding motorcycles or some shit like that.

I'm really hoping the Mets figure out John Maine's salary soon. I used to watch him pitch for UNC-Charlotte and I absolute love seeing him play for my team now.

^ He has real talent, but has been extremely streaky. If he could put together a year at the level he is capable of....look out National League.

2 seasons ago I was visiting friends in Houston and we went to see the Mets play the Astros. I was standing in the front row and Maine was walking out to the field for stretching and I shouted out "go 49ers!" and he came up to me and we got to chat for a few minutes. He's an awesome guy.
