So, are you tossing nearly 800 yolks per year? (3 per weekday)???
Please tell me that is not the case.

I should try eating a heartier breakfast, I'm always starving by 11:02

Most days I just grab a banana and I run out of the house just in time to see the bus fly by

I used to think that too, and would try to tell my fiance he was wrong.
Then I spent a day, and went to kroger, food dog, HT, kmart, and walmart, and compared prices on yogurt, broccoli, canned chickpeas, milk, canned veggies, and some other stuff. Things I buy a lot of.

Harris teeter was by far the most expensive. Sometimes it was by a little, and sometimes by a lot. Food dog and kroger were roughly equal, and walmart was cheaper on everything except yogurt and broccoli, and that was like a $0.10 difference.

And since I've started couponing, I've memorized the prices on lots of stuff, since I need to know 'should I use this coupon here, or there?', and HT is more expensive. And most of the 'buy one, get one free' coupons? They have a price limit set. Harris teeter's base price is always above that. And then I need to use my ben and jerry's coupon today or tomorrow...ben and jerry's at kroger is $3.59.

It was $4.79 at HT.

HT is good to shop at for the sale + coupon combos, and, for me, the produce. The produce section at the kroger by me sucks so much a gay man would feel straight in comparison. They double coupons up to 99cents, whereas kroger doubles only 50cents. So there are times when it's cheaper to shop at HT
But for general grocery shopping? Very rarely worth it.

I live right next to a Teeter and several blocks away from anything else

I go there every time

I spend about $50 a week and I shop at whole foods for all my groceries. This is a reduced total from when I would shop at HT. Harris Teeter is far more expensive than whole foods for the majority of items i'll buy. bagels were 50 cents cheaper (9% difference in price). Chicken is 3 dollars less per pound. Deli meats are the exact same prices and fruits/veggies are often cheaper there as well. HT is over priced and over rated.

Does mayonnaise or yolk-containing bread, cake or pasta give you a headache?

Yolks are fucking gold. Even if you don't want them, certainly someone you know does.

How could someone not view this as a challenge? There are so fucking many things you can cook (OR LEARN TO COOK,) with egg yolks it's ridiculous. Or, if you don't have the time, you could try to sell them.... And even if you're willing to buy them and not use them (which is about as stupid as you can get -- you're basically burning money, like a fucking idiot,) at least give them to a roommate, neighbor, family-member, co-worker, homeless person, pet, stray animal, I MEAN GODDAMN!! WHO THE FUCK THROWS AWAY PERFECTLY GOOD FOOD?!?!? YOU MAKE ME SICK!!

You sir, are a perfect example of what is wrong with america.

i wonder what me and my wife spend on food per year (going out and cooking in) - i've never tracked it to the dollar but it definitely fluctuates based on if i'm traveling quite a bit

do you track it including a beer or glass of wine at dinner or if you drink something else other than tap water - or just add up all inclusive grocery and restaurant bills

i also live closest to a harris teeter. and they have free cookies. i cant justify driving 2 miles in traffic just to get to the nasty food dog down the street

and yeah the double coupons are awesome. so awesome that i actually kinda halfway clip them now sometimes

that's entirely for grocery, no alcohol, bar tabs, or resturaunts.

Oddly enough, I haven't eaten something I didnt prepare myself in around 2 weeks

I've never done the math either but I'm guessing somewhere between 15-20 per day

this includes a piece of fruit for breakfast, lunch out at 7-10, and dinner either picked up on the way home for 7-10 or cooked at home for 5-7

I don't factor any alcohol purchased at bars or at the store for home consumption in this math

because it would complete fuck my ratios

^^you mean they let you cook your own food at 10 minute?

then you have no reason to bitch about it not being ready when you get there

fo realz yo, my doctor yelled at me for having too high cholesterol so I was looking for egg substitutes. I got some stuff called "break-free" or whatever that has zero cholesterol and almost zero fat and tastes just like regular eggs.

I agree. And the Food Lions around NCSU have terrible fruits and vegetables. The Avent Ferry one isn't too bad, but the Western Blvd. one is just nasty IMO. After stopping by that one after work several times only to find mushy squash and greens that are starting to turn brown I just go to HT and pay the difference.

This is generally a good idea. Most of the cholesterol and fat is in the yolk, but it also contains amino acids which are important for muscle growth and good health. This method gives you the most protein with the least amount of fat/cholesterol while still giving your body the amino acids it needs.

HT is only worth going to when they got a sale + coupon.

Thanks for the great money-saving tips! Also, in these tough economic times I find it helpful to search for 2nd hand private jets instead of buying new. It's a great way to frugally travel. When I go on world cruises, I go for the month-long one rather than the 7 or 9 day packages...The cost drops as much as 11% per day.

...Just a couple ways I'm able to keep a few extra pennies in my wallet.

Dude...I have seen moldy produce and fruit flies at the one on western.
