Not saying there isn't a general sense of apathy among the populace, but the updated article says it was a large kitchen knife.

The whole think could have been over in 15 seconds, and if I see a guy with a 12" chefs knife who just killed someone, I'm gonna think twice about trying to attack him with a chair or something, especially if it looks like he's not gonna attack anyone else.

you have a point, but chopping off a fucking raw drumstick from a chicken, having to go through a joint, takes more than a few seconds sometimes.

Especially since he couldn't possibly be that experienced in chopping off heads with KITCHEN knives.

I am still leaning towards unrestricted sawing with a chef's knife for around 2 minutes

I think a lot of people have an obscured concept of how long it would take to do this. With a sharp knife and any experience butchering meats, you can figure out where and how to cut to accomplish a task. If you consider that the neck is mostly muscle and skin with the exception of the trachea and spine, then with a sharp knife (as i said before, serrated mroeso than straight edge) you could get through someone's neck in about 10 seconds.

I can break down a chicken into two airline breasts (breast meat and drumette), two thighs, and two legs in about 20 seconds with a sharp knife. And that is a lot tougher to pull off than sawing through someone's neck.

If the girl is already dead, what's the real difference between whether she's been decapitated or not? Not enough to risk my life, that's for sure.
