you'd be the only one to turn them down. there's usually an hour wait at lunch every day. course the place is really small.

yea

mine's a samsung, only thing that kinda sucks about the picture is that if you are standing above the TV, it looks a lot dimmer than if you are at-or-below it, but sitting on the couch, its a non-issue

they just delivered mine from the store, and i was literally moving into the new place that day, so while i was waiting i was putting together the p.o.s. walmart TV stand

the timing was impeccable...i finished the TV stand, then the TV arrived, i got that set up and then the cable guy came to set that up

WT Harris runs everywhere... would you be closer to Northlake Mall or to UNCC?

Sounds like you're in the University Area. Lots of cheap housing...pretty crappy area to live IMO these days. I lived there 4 years ago in Barrington Place. Nice Apt. and fairly cheap, but no really a cool neighborhood or anything. Closest cool neighborhood to University is NoDa/Plaza-Midwood.

Ok, here's my list.

Cool neighborhoods (for young people):
Southend, Uptown, No-Da, Plaza-Midwood-Thomas St.
I don't do ballantyne or Steele Creek, but I thought those are older, more settled down folk areas. Places to live maybe, but not much to do.

Eats:
Penguin Diner (best hushpuppies, best people watching)
Bid Daddy's Burger Bar (best burgers in town)
Macs (best BBQ)
Price's Chicken (best fried chicken ever)
Merts (best soul food)

Best bars:
Dixies
Tyber Creek
Thomas St.
Ri-Ra

I don't have a favorite club.

Outdoors things to do:
Whitewater Center
Crowders Mountain
The lakes

Also, google this shit.

i agree with most of ^ except if you're going to penguin you'll probably have to wait to get a table, and imo, it's overrated. it always gives me the mud butt.. you should still go just to go... it's an experience.

i live in ballantyne, but don't really go out here... i hear this area is full of cougars though if you're into that sort of thing

i hate going uptown.. HATE it. it's filled with douche bags and sluts. dixies is the worst. just walking in there makes me want to vomit all over myself. ri-ras is cool though... and delicious.

thomas street tavern always has weird people in it, so it's fun to people watch, plus they have the cool patio out back.

noda and plaza midwood/thomas st are fun places to hang out. i would love to own a house in/near one of these neighborhoods someday

also, google that shit

University Area:

Best college crowd: Wild Wing Cafe or Boardwalk Billys.
Best sports bar: Picassos

picassos is at 29 and WT Harris. Wild Wing is on Mallard Creek. Boardwalk Billys is on 29, about 2 miles north of WT Harris.

There is a Flying Saucer about 3 miles North on 29 from WT Harris.

as far as living off of WT Harris, I would avoid it if possible. Its getting too crowded and the traffic sucks.

Unless you live uptown, you probably aren't going to frequent a lot of these places people are naming. They are all good places, but they won't be in your circle if you live outside the city. I love the Penguin, but i've been there maybe twice in the past 6 months?

Let us know where you will be living (I still didn't see this) and i'll try to cater it around there.

Also what are some fun things in the Charlotte area, such as comedy clubs, concert venues, unique bars, outdoor activities, ect."

For some reason I find this question to be really funny!

^^That's funny, because out of all the places named in this thread, only RiRa, Dixies, and Merts is uptown. I don't live uptown and try to go to NoDa, Southend, and all those cool restaurants as often as possible....

It's not uptown or bust imo. There are many good and cool places outside of uptown.

The Epicentre is pretty nice. It can get kinda douchey though. Lots of good bars with a lot of hot tail. I like Alley Cats, RiRa, Connolly's and Dixie's. Stool Pigeons is alright. Never go to Buckhead. Ever. Uptown Cabaret is good with a group, especially if you have girls with you.

I mean it all depends on where you live. If you live way out in concord or something, Plaza Central or Noda could be consider "down-town", being only a few miles from the city.

i love people who have this opinion, because it keeps my favorite bar from being overrun. but keep your opinion about one of the best places uptown.

^exactly. I used the term uptown lightly. My "uptown" stretches from NoDa through the main drag inside 277 to the outskirting neighborhoods of dilworth, southend etc, all the way out towards providence road.

and you may try to hit those places up as often as you can, but it's a stretch, especially if you live in matthews, university, concord, etc etc.

^^ And why, pray tell, do you like Buckhead.?You said others not liking it keeps it from getting overcrowded, but everytime I've been there it's been just that. So much so that it takes so much effort just to get to the bar that the ability to cop a feel doesn't outweigh anything.

wow dixies is my favorite bar to go too..I'm there every weekend brick & barrel is pretty fun too but it gets a little crowded at some times since it's pretty small. That whole corner is pretty fun (ri-ra's, the attic, and phil's)

didn't mean to dodge your question DB, just left work before i could answer.

I've been going to buckhead steadily for 3+ years and for my group of friends its easily our "go to" or fall back bar. we have never had a bad time and always seems to have wild crazy blackout good times there. We also enjoy the atmosphere, i like the live music atmosphere that can quickly turn into a dance party. It may get old to some, but its always fun for me. And having a big group that enjoys it just as much is always a plus. I have a hard time describing Buckhead as overcrowded after experiencing places such as Blackfinn, Phils, and The Attic/Madisons. Buckhead always has a big crowd, but the place is so open that it doesn't feel that way. Blackfinn, Phils, and Attic/madisons all becomes so packed that everytime you turn you have to worry about bumping into a cigarette and with the undersized bars at each, you are almost forced to stand by bar all night in order to get a drink.

Maybe its just me and that i've learned to steer clear of the actual bar (at buckhead) unless i absolutely have to get liquor. The several beer tub girls in the corners are quick and easy to get to, plus they have the basics (red bull+vodka, soco+lime) if you are into that. And even still, the large bar is more accomodating than most.

Yeah the passway by the main bar gets a little crowded late, but its from people that use that area to stand in circles and block traffic both directions. We've been guilty of that too, but most of the time we are out in the center or on the dance floor.

most people bash buckhead due to the fleischmann deal, the fights/shootings (both of which did not even originate at buckhead), and the sing-along journey/bon jovi atmosphere before they ever even experience a night there.
