i know he just got the new one from ali landry, but if he realized that he could only get one power at a time (and i'm guessing he would know this by now) and he's locked up on a plane with all the other heroes then i'm thinking he would realize he would get a different one at some point. he just acted surprised that he lost his strength as if he didn't know what his ability did anymore.

if he can still get all the powers back again he'd still have his strength unless its whatever they drugged them with affecting him.

i'm resigned to the fact that the writers for this show don't really have very good memories or foresight, so anything fans logically figure out as "heroes laws" likely will be forgotten within a few episodes or season to season

So, I've seen all the episodes, and I know Peter's dad took his powers at the end of the last group of shows, but when/where did it indicate that Peter can only have one power at a time now? I saw several of you mention it, I was just under the impression that Peter was starting over on his powers?

I know originally they had said he can use a power by remembering how a specific person made him "feel". I'm sure thinking of Claire gives him a tingle in his pants etc... I'm thinking maybe he still has all the powers but they are dormant? Thoughts?

They go out of the way to show he can only have one power at a time.

He tries his hardest to touch Mohinder and then becomes super strong after you see a little white light transfer from Mohinder's hand to Peter's.

Then Peter gets knocked into (Ali Larter) and picks up her power and all of a sudden is no longer super strong, but ices part of the plane.

How could you have possibly missed that?

^, ^^ Sorry, but how does being able to shoot ice from his hands negate his super strength? Looked to me like he was confused about the new power, blew a hole in the plane, and the only reason he was about to be sucked out was due to the cargo net tearing.

In the first season, Peter was able to absorb people's powers that he gets close to and can't really control them and don't really know how to use them. He was only able to use one power at a time if my memory is correct. He had to undergo training with that invisible guy so he can use all the powers he'd absorbed. So I'm guessing it's back to basics with him again.

You have to remember that Peter lost his orignal "sponge" ability when his father took those powers.

He injected himself with the serum at the end of Chapter 3, but everyone assumes that he gets his original power back (maybe even Peter). In actuality so far his new ability as a variation of his old one but he can only have one at a time and has to touch another hero to get their ability.

Then again it could all change tonight, so who knows...

I watched the rerun on Saturday and it really does look like he can't have more than 1 ability at a time or he doesn't know how to use more than one at a time. When he accidently got the freeze ability, he was surprised that he couldn't knock the guard down because he thought he still had strength. Sucks, because I liked his old powers and being more powerful than the rest of them.

At least there's Sylar who's not afraid of kicking ass.

exactly, there where too many times when he had so many powers that they wrote something in where he used X power when he could have used Y power to accomplish it easier (the vault door he dramatically tore off with his mind when he could have liquified it with a power he got from sylar is a quick example) so now it will be easier for the writers, especially now that time travel is out of the equation

I finally figured out the problem with Heroes. Obviously, the directors are fucking it up, but its a bit further than that. Series get good when characters are so well built that the script practically writes itself. Season 1 had that. However, the directors are hell bent on changing the characters because they don't like the direction they are headed. In order to get around this, they have the characters do things completely out of character (if that makes any sense), and that is just confusing and pissing off their target viewers. They aren't just disregarding previous plot points.
