Jay's goodbye was in a more serious tone. Talked about things that had happened over 17 years and mentioned funny times etc... then he said they wondered how many kids had been born by the crew since they took over the tonight show... turned out it was 68! All of them were on stage with him as it went off the air. It was a good ending for Leno overall.

^ his monologues have never been so hot imo. and the video clips he shows are funny at times, but to me they seem more like an excuse to not have to do as much monologue. play to your strengths i guess. the background behind his desk looks cool though.

I was thinking the same thing. It shows that it takes a while to hit your stride as a show. I watched the first Fallon, and in the 3 months that he has been on the show has improved dramatically. Everyone is trying to figure out how to deal with a new environment, new people, set, etc. It almost looked like Conan was nervous out there. I think they will find their groove as a show but you can't just bust out of the gate full speed. It takes time to get all the little details nailed.

That "slow jam" jimmy did in the opening last night was really funny btw

gotta disagree. i thought conan did fine and fallon's show is just barely funny. The few things I enjoy on fallon's show don't really include much fallon at all. And his off the cuff humor is certainly far below leno, conan, or letterman.

but i guess thats just my opinion /shrug

i really don't like conan, so i haven't watch him in forever (not to mention i'm too old to stay up that late - for his previous show). i don't really remember if his monologues were any good but i could not fucking stand that retarded entrance he did every time. i always closed my eyes until he was done.

i watched last night just to see how it went. i went to bed after the monologue but recorded the rest.
