the resume pretty much doesn't matter much until you make a good impression in person at these things. i think honestly they'll ask you trick questions trying to figure out who you are as a person, and if you answer them correctly and spark interest, they'll actually move to the "resume looking stage".

ENG 331 Resume was a COMPLETE jokeThe stupid *($ that taught my class, Sarah Eagen Warren, or something like that gave me a B on my Resume... I submitted the exact resume I used to get the technical job that I was holding at the time WITH the exact job description for that job...After receiving that grade I spent the rest of the assignments belittling her class with the backing of real engineers who have written countless technical documents...^I've been on the recruiting side of things a couple of times too... The worst thing that you can do in my opinion is walk up to me meekly and shove a resume in my face before saying anything... Resume's are hard to read on the spot. My personal approach, that has worked really well for me, is to know exactly which companies I want to talk to, pre-apply online for the jobs that they have open that I'm interested in, THEN B-Line to them at the career fair and tell them that you've already applied for a job. From here they will ask you general do you know anything about your field questions and if you pass those they will give you the on campus interview...Always remember it's a competition to be the best fit. I went up against people who did better than me in my classes for the job that I currently hold, but I was very direct in telling them that I was qualified (with experience and coursework to prove it) and I WANTED to work for them especially in Greensboro... I was a marginal student for the first 3 years and didn't break above a 3.0 in undergrad until my 4 year after I had co-oped. Co-op completely turned my college career around and I can't recommend it enough.

i read through some of the resume's that my company got at this career fairand holy shit some of those things were terrible.for instance, if you have a 2.9 GPA - don't put that shit on your resumeif you can't take the time to accurately spell the name of the company you wrote a cover letter for - don't write the damn cover letterif you are past freshman, maaayyybe sophomore year, don't put anything on there from HS unless you did something incredible like save little timmy from the well or cure a disease or win olympic gold. if you are a senior, and you put "my OM team won 19th runner up in the try-county finals in 2001" you're just wasting space on the page. and it shows you haven't had enough interesting shit happen since then to fill a resumeif english is your second language, spend 10 minutes and have someone, anyone, proof read the damn thing for youand here's a quick career fair meet & greet/interview tip for you - if you started a school A, and transferred into the same degree program at school B, do not say the reason was because the program at school A was too hard. fucking lie to us, tell us your dog died and you couldn't handle the grief of being away from home, but damn don't just come out and say something was too difficult for you.on another note, when did the career fair open up to the public? it hasn't always been like that has it? there were ECU kids there, App State, WCU, UNCC, and a number of people who had graduated long ago and gotten laid off recently.

I was one of those ECU kids that showed up.I didn't realize that the career fair was public. ECU always asked permission to attend before they would let us know about the career fair. Always thought it was a private thing.

The past several have been open to the public as far as I know. There is usually a crowd from duke engineering there and a healthy handful of UNCC kids

Yeah, outsiders just had a much larger presence this time cause we're all lookin for jobs. If you're an alumnus and still have your ID, as long as it's one of the newer allcampus cards, they've got your name in the system apparently. Mine still says I'm going for a master's in civil engineering, which isn't correct since I withdrew in oct 08! Still cool that you can go back if you want. The indian presence was a little insane though. I had no idea we had that many indian students in electrical/comp sci/comp eng.

The Grad department for digital design or circuit design is 90% Asian considering Indians are Asians too... Out of 90 people I could usually count the Americans on my fingers. the more focused upper level classes that changed significantly to about 50/50 or so especially in RF classesI made friends with a lot of them, great guys and girls and only the REALLY astounding ones were able to find jobs across the country and several of my friends actually are probably headnig back to india which really sucks
