^Fucking christ. I guess when you spend your whole life doing math you'll end up looking at it like a piece of art.

you don't have to spend your whole life doing math to see the beauty in math. not even years doing it. a college course should suffice. heck, if you haven't seen the beauty in math by the time you finish HS, you are blind (or too dumb, or one of those assholes who goes around labeling kids as nerds and geeks).

e^(i*pi) = -1

Try saying it like this:

A real transcendental number raised to an imaginary transcendental power equals a negative integer.

Almost as good as that Calvin & Hobbes cartoon where the dad tries to explain angular velocity to Calvin by comparing the motion of two spots at different radii from the center on a lp. The last frame has Calvin in bed, at night, with his eyes bugging out. Classic.

this sounds better:

A real transcendental number raised to an imaginary transcendental power plus one equals nothing.

"Rushton (1967[3]) observed the wagon-wheel effect under continuous illumination while humming. The humming vibrates the eyes in their sockets, effectively creating stroboscopic conditions within the eye. By humming at a frequency of a multiple of the rotation frequency, he was able to stop the rotation. By humming at slightly higher and lower frequencies, he was able to make the rotation reverse slowly and to make the rotation go slowly in the direction of rotation. A similar stroboscopic effect is now commonly observed by people eating crunchy foods, such as carrots, while watching TV. The crunching vibrates the eyes at a multiple of the frame rate of the TV."

This shit always wigged me out whenever I was looking at CRT computer screens.
