LOL, so you can buy a minivan for $1800? And think it'll make it through the trip without breaking down? LOL
Give it a month fellas, and we'll hear from Kiwi stranded somewhere in Wyoming... 2/11/2009 11:22:26 PM |

Why buy a car just for a road trip? Does Kiwi not already own a car? While it would be nice to sleep in the car, camping gear will fit in most any trunk space. Not to mention, a smaller car will cost you far less on gas (less important now that gas is below $2 again) But if more than one person is going then you might have to share a tent. Whatever you do, avoid eating out. McDonalds adds up quickly. PB&J + Ramen. 2/12/2009 12:34:30 AM |

You could try to get a job doing this very thing. Intrepid Travel has started doing US road trip tours.

I won't claim it's an easy job, but at least you'd get paid to do what you're talking about. Check out their group leader position. 2/12/2009 1:01:49 AM |

Nah, I bet you could do that no problem. For $2500, I bought a '95 Ram 2500 with V10 and 4x4 (it had 112k miles when I bought it) and drove it from the upper NW corner of WA to Morehead City while pulling a trailer and nearly 9000 lbs.
But yeah, if it's just 2 people and you're just doing a road trip, most regular cars would be just fine.2/12/2009 2:31:42 AM |
