From that list at the end of page 1... I think if you include MJ for his college career than you have to include Jay Williams. I mean one went on to be the greatest NBA player in history and the other's dumbass ran in to a tree and changed his name eight times... but that doesn't change the fact he was NASTY in college (though not the best PG at any level you moron vitale)

I know you can't really judge a book by it's cover, but Hansbrough has an expression like his IQ is about 98. He doesn't look inquisitive like he is actually thinking about anything. His stare is about as blank as can be and his interviews sound like a freshman in high school could deliver them better. 3/14/2009 3:07:54 PM |

UNC will NOT win the NCAA tourny. They have had wayyy to many close games, and thats with the ACC refs on their side. That is why they will lose in the NCAA, the refs aren't guarenteed to be on their side, and then they bitch, and then they lose.

That's a silly reason why they won't win. You can and should argue that close games make a team tournament tested (see 1999. Duke. UConn.).
They won't win if Ty Lawson isn't 100%. There is your valid reason...3/14/2009 5:26:05 PM |

i really don't understand this close games thing. aside from the four losses, there were only a handful of wins by less than 10 points. 3/14/2009 5:31:54 PM |

i wonder what UNC's record is this year in games decided by...maybe 5 points or less
being in close games is fine if you win most of them

close games obviously give you a much higher chance to lose...yeah state had a ton of close games in 83, which makes it even more impressive that they won. Having a lot of close games, and winning all of those, sooo unlikely to happen. 3/14/2009 5:38:37 PM |

3 and 3...50%, which is about what it probably should be. 6 games to win the ncaa, if even 2 of those are "close" games, thats a 25% chance of unc winning it all, which is overall a very decent chance. But I bet they will have more than 2 close games in the tourny, so we will see. 3/14/2009 5:47:17 PM |

Even if Ty Lawson is 100% they won't win...their guards are, at best, average defenders. guard play wins championships, and UNC doesn't have them this year 3/14/2009 6:44:09 PM |

^FSU and VT are definitely better than the team they'll meet in the first round and better/pretty much equal to the team they'll meet in the 2nd round of the NCAAs. So, I don't think it really matters, UNC will get to the Sweet 16 with or without Lawson. 3/14/2009 8:38:11 PM |

they'll win their first game, it will be against a shit team, thats a given
then their next game will most likely be an 8 or 9 seed who they'll most likely beat
i'd throw a party if they became the 1st 1 seed to lose to a 16 3/14/2009 8:48:32 PM |

Damn right StateCole
All Hansbrough does is travel, throw up the ugliest, goofy looking 5-foot shots ever, and somehow make them half of the time. The other half of the time the refs usually bail him out with a foul call, or call the foul when he initiates 100% of the contact and he gets a light slap on the shoulder. Hansbrough is strong, yes, and he can exploit that to get to the free throw line in college, in the NBA it wont work.
It makes me sick to think that he is going to pass JJ redick in points. I am no fan of UNC or Duke, but I can atleast respect the ability of a good, skilled player like redick who can actually make a jump shot out of freethrow range. (Yes Hansbrough apparently can now make wide open 3 pointers, but it took how many years for him to learn how to shoot?).
The reason I went from indifferent to dislike in regards to hansbrough (besides him killing ncsu with his goofy shots) is due to the media and commentary. I am sick of announcers creaming their pants talking about hansbrough's "WILL". If 5 players dive for a lose ball, but Hansbrough hustles to watch the scramble, he is the one they talk about. The camera never leaves him and his goofy face... CAN THE KID NOT BREATHE THROUGH HIS NOSE? Not to mention his ugly retarded looking celebrations... recent example, the virginia tech game, the player is hacked and bumped by 3 people (No foul) then Hansbrough grabs the guys back and grabs the basketball. After the whistle Hansbrough realises the refs gave them game instead of calling a foul like they should have. *ugly faces and chest pounding* 3/15/2009 1:34:15 PM |

Yeah, you're right. He's garbage. He only averages 21 points per game, 8 rebounds per game, is 52% from the field and is an 85% free throw shooter. That's pretty pathetic.

And let's not forget the 58 total points he dropped on NCSU this season
And you can't compare Redick's skill set to Hansbrough's. They play 2 totally different positions. I'd like to see Redick bang underneath the basket and take the abuse that Hansbrough does.
