Still, small wonder that newspapers are dying when their editors can't figure out that having a black man represented by a dead monkey is a bad idea."
I must have missed that one.
I only saw this one that has congress represented by a dead chimp:

Still highly questionable. The comic itself isn't exactly clear, especially since it's a sure bet that most Americans (hell, most people who follow American politics) attribute the writing of the bill to Obama's administration.

And yes, I'm familiar with the difference between a monkey and a great ape. It's the wolfweb. Please, Willy Nilly, I beg you, will you have the great well of mercy necessary to forgive me for my egregious taxonomical error? I doubt I should survive without your pardon!

Seems to me it implied that either Congress/the Obama administration/Both hired the chimp to write the bill, not that they are represented directly the chimp.

lol... It did feel kinda douchey to point that out... In my defense, after I had "corrected" the wording to make my point about congress vs. Obama, it seemed fitting to not leave the incorrect monkey term.

Well, you need not apologize to me. The family of the chimp, however....

So... I mean... I guess we're all just gonna stop pretending that there's a separation of powers, huh?

With Obama stealing the spotlight; Al Sharpton needed something to get attention back to him.

Sharpton: "Well i tell ya the white man be holding us the american black people; oh wait a second...."

what exactly do life experiences have to do with a bunch of people in this thread pulling the race card because they completely misunderstood the cartoon?

The problem is not the cartoon, it's Al Sharpton. The whole controversy just gives legitimacy to a hack who should be ignored by the whole country. He's getting exactly what he wants and the media is too stupid to realize it, just like they blindly followed the idiot Obama.

The media doesn't have any incentive to NOT give in to Sharpton's sensationalism. It's hype and hype gets them ratings. Because the public at large loves some fucking drama, regardless of how much it goes against social progress. Unfortunately.

I said it before, and I'll say it again:

I think it's a weak argument to try and compare the chimp to Obama, but it still was a stupid idea to even put something out that could be construed that way. In general, for the next 4 years, at least, it's not a good idea to draw a monkey and equate it to the federal government

The n-word is their word, now they want the monkey to be their animal.
