^ lol, thanks I think.

^^ Yeah, it works if you follow the rules and don't fuck around. You have to take it seriously and focus while you are doing it. It's been pretty slow today, but it will pick up after dinner. My goal is to be at $200 by the time I get back to work next week.

I just finished the readiness exam, I know I answered all of the questions right and I added a little extra to them all, BUT I forgot to say "ChaCha" or "ChaCha again", etc. on my first two submissions. I put it on the last 8, so hopefully that doesnt bite me too hard

most of them were under 3 minutes, I think I had 1 run over the 3 minute mark

they asked me a bunch of simple sports questions, and asked me the same question twice (how many medals did Mark Spitz win in 1972). I know I answered it right both times

I wish this could be hooked up through aim some how. I'd do it b/c i don't get free texts then it would also be easy to copy and paste answers from google.

Update from ChaCha:

Quote :
"Mon Mar 02 18:10:35 EST 2009
We have closed Guide Registration down this afternoon. Everyone who entered the system before this afternoon is still eligible and welcome to become a ChaCha Guide, but for the time being we are not allowing any new individuals into the system."

So it looks like they are not hiring new guides, unless you registered before this afternoon. Sorry guys.

Yeah, but you probably registered way before that. I am pretty sure they count "Registration" as when you first fill out the W-9 form and take the initial test.

Thanks for the referral by the way

Uh. I haven't gotten an email yet, but I signed in to edit my interests, and I'm getting questions.

I DO have a question though. Say someone asks you for a chain store near a certain city and there are tons of answers, I put a few and then should I say submit answer, or Customer Clarify? I'm not sure what the clarify button is used for.

clarify button is only for shit that you have no idea what it says. you always want to try to come up with some reasonable answer, mainly b/c you don't get paid unless you answer.

"what does sdfhjkl mean in chinese?"
= [clarify]

"what color is red?"
= "red is a color of light with wavelength blah blah blah"

I read that you aren't supposed to use clarify unless you HAVE to.

Also, earlier I got a question about in America what is more valuable, diamonds or oil?

I just put the amount it costs for a barrel of crude oil and then said but it depends on the quantity of each. I really had NO idea how to answer. Do ya'll get a lot of these?

Put in as many as you can fit, then put "...MORE?" on the end. If they want more, they will respond with "MORE" and another guide will pick up where you left off. I recommend visiting the forums and doing some research, especially since it will be slow for the next couple days. You can have all your questions answered in there.

That is a great answer actually. I do that quite a bit when I get vague questions, but make sure you try to answer everything you get. If you just have NO idea then abort, because a bad answer could affect your quality score. But yeah, I get a lot of very vague questions, and some of them are just comments.

Example: I got this yesterday: "I am outside playing in the snow and building a snowman"
My Response "Awesome! I was just doing the same thing earlier. What did you use for the eyes and nose? ChaCha again!"

Then I used a "How to build a snowman" link as my reference. I got 100% on that one.

The first couple days I was doing this (started last week) I was getting back to back to back questions, making like $40 a day. Now I don't know if they've hired too many people or what but I've made about $1 in the last two days, I'm getting a question about every two hours.

^ PM sent

Also, anyone else experiencing the slow-down (which is pretty much everyone right now), feel free to PM me and I will give you my insight on it. My sister has been a guide for 2 years so she gave me the low-down. Basically, it happens every time they open the registration window for new guides, but only lasts a week or so. Then it returns to back-to-back questions

so basically it will slow down when all of the new guides lose their enthusiasm or get weeded out for bad scores?

^ no, the opposite. the addition of all the new guides bogs down the servers and it gets slow. Once they start weeding out or they upgrade the servers, it will pick back up again. It happens every time they open the registration window.

2 questions...and I'm aware I'm double posting but I need my questions answered and not looked over.

1) I've gotten 2 questions about celebrities phone numbers and how to call/text them and didn't know how to answer that. Thankfully it was one that was under my category so I got to accept/decline and I declined.

For these do you just write something comical? Let's hear it.

2) Does ChaCha punish you for declining answers? For instance, wait longer to give you another question or lower your 'score'?

I usually just write something comical like "Don't you think if I had the number I would have called them by now?" or something like that. But be careful not to be insulting.

Then I would use that famous person's website as the source. IMDB is usually really good for those types of sources.

I am not sure about "being punished" for declining questions. You should definitely check the Guide Forum because I am sure that is in there somewhere. Declining questions is definitely better than giving wrong answers, because your Quality Score is a main factor in how many questions you get.

But again, don't start freaking out about not getting a lot of questions right now. It is slow for everyone. I will get spurts of like 5 or 6 back to back, then I won't get shit for 10 minutes. Earlier today I only got 5 questions in 2 hours.

Well, officially a guide. And definitely have no been experiencing slowness issues. Any time that I've logged on, I've usually gotten questions back to back, with no break or breaks up to 30 seconds.

I can't see my scores yet though. And still haven't gotten an official email, but I'm earning money nonetheless.

^ And thanks for that. I think the most questions I get are Business look ups. Though, I was very excited when I got my first horse related question!

^^ yeah, I got drilled with NBA and NHL score questions last night, which are the best because they are so easy. I recommend going into your categories and putting in every professional sports team so you get score questions.

Yeah, sports scores are the best because they only take like 30 seconds to answer and you will always get 100% on them. If you haven't yet, make sure to add NASCAR and all the drivers, since the season just started. You should get a bunch of NASCAR questions on Sundays.

^ good luck. it has been really slow the past couple days, so my advice is for you to take the time to set up your categories so you get mostly specialist questions. I just redid mine today and it took me about 3 hours. The rule of thumb is to pick 5 categories and fill them up as much as possible.
