So, going on about 28 days now and it's moved about 90GB, another 130 or so to go. 6/8/2009 1:02:35 PM |

I admittedly haven't looked very hard, but there isn't a great deal of info available on mozy.com
I use a laptop day to day & I've got an older desktop that gets used a few times a year to find whatever old photos or files that are hidden away on it. Is there a efficent way for me to get everything backed up without spending an extra $5/month for the second computer? 6/23/2009 8:37:10 PM |

eh? you can have multiple accounts, one for each computer.
and I think you can have two computers on the same account, if the total amount is < 2GB. 6/23/2009 8:56:22 PM |

I'm not talking about the free accounts but the unlimited $5/month accounts. & I have closer to 2 TB than 2 GB 6/24/2009 10:22:26 PM |

you either get a 2nd account, or you go for a Mozy Pro account, which allows you to backup network drives (although, Mozy Pro charges per GB)
But if you're serious about trying to back up 2TB, man-up and pay the additional $5 already. Don't be a cheap-ass, taking advantage of a service in a way it was clearly not intended.

^^It's also completely possible to back up network drives with the regular mozy.
The option is not in the GUI but it is in the registry. I think I posted how to do that on the last page. You have to change the registry and then restrict permissions so mozy can't change them back.
edit:
[Edited on July 19, 2009 at 2:39 PM. Reason : Though I did it because paying for another computer wasn't an option, as it's a NAS that runs linux.]
[Edited on July 19, 2009 at 2:40 PM. Reason : And paying by the GB would be prohibitively expensive for a home user.] 7/19/2009 2:35:55 PM |

Just got this email
Quote : | "Thanks for being a valued Mozy subscriber. For the first time since 2006, we’re adjusting the price of our MozyHome service and wanted to give you a heads up. As part of this change, we’re replacing our MozyHome Unlimited backup plan and introducing the following tiered storage plans:
50 GB for $5.99 per month (includes backup for 1 computer) 125 GB for $9.99 per month (includes backup for up to 3 computers)
You may add additional computers (up to 5 in total) or 20 GB increments of storage to either of the plans, each for a monthly cost of $2.00.
While this policy takes effect for new MozyHome customers starting today, your MozyHome Unlimited subscription is still valid for the duration of your current 2 year term. In order to ensure uninterrupted service, you'll need to select a new renewal plan." |
No thanks Mozy.2/1/2011 7:15:59 PM |
