it's not really my fault that the university completely switched registration systems in the middle of me coding this app. as a result, i basically have to rewrite just about everything i've done up to this point. considering the vast majority of the backend code that harvested the data was already complete, this is going to take some time.

i would really, really like to get this done, believe me... but things that i get paid money for doing are a bit higher on the list.

i'll get to it... if only for the simple fact that this is something i personally would love to use.

unless you think you could do a better job or have constructive criticism to offer, i suggest you shut the fuck up. what, if anything, have you actually contributed to tww?

okay, i finally went through all the class search pages and figured out how PS returns data (it's really, really, REALLY fucked up). the ONLY good thing about them switching is that now there is more data available on each class section than there was before (i think they're presenting almost all the data they have) so i'll be able to include lots more, which means you'll be able to search by practically anything you want.

that was the part that was holding all this up... now that i know how to simulate a user session, i can write the code to harvest data.

honestly, i'd like to write something that would put a wrapper around the university's registration interface to make it suck less (for example, not submitting a damn form EVERY TIME YOU DO SOMETHING ON A PAGE)... but i'm not sure they'd look too kindly on that considering how much money they wasted on peoplesoft... also, not sure how i'd handle authentication... but how crazy would that be to register for classes on TWW

i'll at least write a new class search interface. you can use that, get a list of the section IDs you want to register for after customizing your schedule, and then go to the admin portal to actually register for classes using just those unique IDs - should be much easier than searching for shit in their system.
