After legalizing drugs, release all prisoners that only have drug convictions.
Use the prison cells that were just made available to jail more violent criminals.
Shift police budget from combating drugs to combating violent crimes.
Increase penalties for violent crimes -- both sentences and bail.

I mean, many years ago when I got busted with an ounce and couple weed plants, my bail was $50,000. In the same holding cell I was in, there was a lumpy-headed scar-faced white-knuckled thug bragging about how he had just beat someone up so badly that they were in the hospital. His bail? $500.

1) I'm not paying an abortion tax.
2) I'm not paying for the government to get into the hip hop industry. Black people aren't the only ones committing violent crimes.

1) Any efforts to encourage people to have abortions, as well as vasectomies or tubal ligations, should be privately funded -- not tax-payer funded. Also, as is done with assisted suicide, the sanity and competence of the people must first be established before allowing it.
2) Only private funds should be used to encourage rappers or other musicians to write lyrics containing a "sponsored message". And it's likely that few would do it.
3) Only private funds should be used to encourage churches to adopt a particular view -- otherwise it would violate the 1st amendment. (Although, Obama is keeping the blatantly unconstitutional "faith-based initiative" program )
4) No. Forced abortion is obviously a crime. It would be better to disallow additional welfare benefits for mothers that conceive while already on welfare. That way, when they realize that no more money will be coming in upon their having the child, they'll be more likely to voluntarily decide to pursue abortion or adoption.

some of you people took this thread way too seriously.

the idea wasn't abortions = lower crime, while that would be funny, the actually serious part about this thread was that most violent crime comes from lower income households, and single parent households

free abortions would mean that more of these families didn't have kids they couldn't raise/support and fewer thugs on the street. the rapper would have made wrapping your dick cool. less babies would be had. the marriages would make for less single parent families and more economic support to raise the kids, so less crime.
