hahaha how the fuck do you kill a fish, esp. one as hardy as a betta??

Did you dechlorinate the water?

I would take him back if you haven't already flushed him. Ours died like 4 hours after we got him home. He went right back to the store

lols

Fish usually come with warranties, so take it back and get a new one if you can, just make sure you get the chlorine out of the water first.

i did everything i was supposed to with my betta fish i got when i moved into my house, three died in a row...from different stores. and kiwi, you know i know how to take care of fish. it made me i almost didn't buy anymore, but i changed my mind, and for the longest time only used bottled water, but now i just use the water cleaner stuff and they are doing just fine. don't know what happened with the first three.

Did you not use the water cleaner stuff before?

I actually got a betta like 2 days before ambro got hers, it's in a bowl on our counter, can I add a dwarf frog? I think it was you that had one in a bowl before, how'd that go?

i did! i don't know what happened! it was sad i over condition it now, maybe this water out here with all the red clay and sulfur springs just needs more work.

froggies and bettas can live together, just make sure your betta isn't bullying it and you need something on top of the bowl like cheesecloth (so air can still get through) or a screen to keep him from getting out. if you have a bowl i would use cheese cloth with a pretty ribbon or hair band around it to keep it on, and a small hole cut out for feeding.

"You may have access to well water instead of municipal tap water. One advantage with well water is that you don't need to deal with chlorine and chloramine. On the other hand, well water is frequently (much!) harder than water available through local utilities. In addition, the only way to know its composition (GH, KH, etc.) is to run tests on it yourself. Alternatively, there are companies to which you can send water samples that will perform a detailed analysis of its contents (for $20-100).

One potential problem with using well water is that it frequently contains high concentrations of dissolved gases (which may be dangerous to fish). For example, well water is frequently supersaturated with CO2, which lowers the water's pH. Once the CO2 escapes, the pH will increase. Fish shouldn't be subjected to this temporary pH fluctuation. For safety, aerate well water thoroughly for several hours before adding it to your tank. "

Yes, I know.

I also do. This isn't my first betta.

^^I haven't yet...Hollander was one of my faves, but this one is a blue crowntail ringed with red...Hollander doesn't fit.
