Thats partially because teachers are not just teachers anymore; they are disciplinarians/babysitters/entertainers. So many damn rules about being fair to Johnny, can't offend Lisa, or have to help little Timmy they can't do everything they need to. And

No kidding; especially the sense that someone is texting/calling you have to respond to them. Voicemail is there for a reason, you can look at texts later.



I got my first cell phone when I was in college (2000?); it wasn't really an option until I was out of the house. I don't see how kids can want/need a cell phone and expect parents to pay for it. Use the damn house phone; if you want more freedom that costs $ so start paying.
