It's a mixture of brainwashing and "learned helplessness."

If the girl is the type to break down under heavy mental duress, then the idea that she deserves being abused or that she couldn't find a better life outside the abusive relationship could easily be adopted into her set of personal beliefs.

Once she is trapped in this detrimental psychological state she begins to adopt the behaviors of "learned helplessness." Basically, she comes to terms with the idea that she can't (or won't because of her brainwashed beliefs, an idea I'd argue is the same) stop what's happening to her. Once she's resigned herself to abuse, she basically just lies down and accepts it, without trying to escape at all.

In this depressed mental state, the victim can begin lashing out, becoming distant, or seeking comfort from the very person that's abusing her. That's called "battered person's syndrome" and can be used as a credible defense if she ever wises up and kills him.

Personally, I think someone needs to do it. What's the little bastard's name?

I've hit a girl twice

First time was just a slap where the only lasting damage was a bruised ego

Second time was a jab that resulted in a broken nose and fractured orbital socket

just fyi, I don't really believe that stuff....I totally against abuse.

I would never beat a child...I would spank, but not beat.

And I have been hit by guys before, and I never allowed it to happen again because I knew that I didn't deserve it. And I wouldn't hide the fact that the guy hit me too. I would tell everyone that's why we broke up, or that's why I threw him out of my apartment in the middle of the night and told him to walk home for all I care.

All men want to sleep with hot women, most men don't necessarily want a hot trophy wife. I don't believe that Marriage itself is something that men cling too or even think about that much. Men cling to the physical realm (attractiveness), women cling to the emotional realm (fame, status, image, wealth). It makes sense though, men acquire wealth to attract the hottest women to their castle, and women make themselves as attractive as possible to men who have acquired the most wealth for their potential nest. Both innate human desires from mars and venus help to stabalize and prolong the advancement of the human race.
