^^^^of course not, i was more thinking the fantasy scenarios that people have started dreaming out about a massive upheaval, Fowler and Lowe gone, Rick Barnes or Sean Miller or some nonsense coming here, players recommitting, happily ever after

^actually SFN was the first to report on the definite Herb leaving back in the day, before anybody else

Not that this is anywhere near the scale of the Calipari/UK media orgy of the past week, but these type of things tend to get out quickly.

You do not do that to one of your own."

I'm really surprised at how defensive the people on PP are of Sidney. Is it because most of them are older and actually witnessed the 83 champs team and don't want to can him?

Lowe is a very touchy situation, given what has been outlined, his 'sentimental' status to many, the absolute shitty situation he was thrown into by just trying to help, etc

I would say if anything were to happen to Lowe, (which I very seriously doubt) he would at least stay on in some coaching capacity for a while longer because the situation does need to be handled delicately

Fowler on the other hand, is a very black and white case. He has no special love for this university, it's just another job, and we certainly have no love for him or his [lack of] results.

Actually if I were in charge, I would go straight to Boone and hire Charlie Cobb.

He's an alum, played football here, and has the best 1-AA athletic program in the country.

right, because we haven't finished 11th, 12th and 10th in the ACC the past 3 years. This is not to say that we should fire Lowe or hire Gillespie but I have a hard time believing we could be much worse off than we are

And shut the fuck up about Lowe. Go to the Lowe thread, that's why it's there.

"Events of the past couple of weeks or so that may have impacted what’s going on now:

- 5 Star 2010 Prospect C.J. Leslie decommits from NC State

- Seth Curry, a possible NC State pick-up, goes to neighboring Duke instead

- Calipari leaves Memphis for UK, highlighting our coaching search 3 years ago

- Wolfpack prospects Cousins and Wall essentially re-open recruitment after (basically) choosing Memphis originally

- Wall meets with Coach K after having not had a previous offer from Duke

- Brown, Howell, and Wood sign LOIs to NCSU, making it more difficult for them to decommit from the University

- First, theres Tim Floyd to AZ…with rumors of Jamie Dixon to USC…followed by highly-touted, perspective future NCSU coach Sean Miller to Pitt…

- THEN there are rumors of Miller to AZ…

All these events…while many of them appear to be separate happenings at face value…had SOME related impact to NCSU Basketball in their own way…Maybe…JUST maybe, this created a Perfect Storm over the past 48 hours…"

musings I found interesting in the SFN comments, there have been quite a series of unfortunate events in the past months

id find it hard to believe that there is not a clause in their LOI(just like in Xavier Henry's) that stated they would be let out of their LOI if Sidney was fired.

that's why I don't think Sid's going anywhere

He was clearly a failure on the part of fowler, considering he wasn't our first, or second, or third choice

but the jury is still out and as we have all said, before anything should even be considered regarding Sid we need to have someone settled in and in control at AD, or else the mess would be exponentially worse

(the only way he would be out was if we had as well as canning jed somehow secretly landed some grandslam huge coach that would draw them all back - i.e. the delusions of grandeur)

Yeah I think that would be the ideal course

Kick Fowler out with a quickness, give Sid another year or two to see if he can turn things around, go from there

Sentimentality has no place in sports. At fucking all. Save that shit for your family. Sports at the college level is a business. Coaches are paid to perform to raise the profile of the school. Programs that perform better are better funded, thus the schools are better funded, and the quality of education for the general student improves.

There is a monetary reward for positive performance. It's not imaginary. When NC State has to cut 350 jobs and cut back on class sizes next year due to budget constraints, wouldn't it be nice if the Athletic Department could soften that blow by kicking in some loot? At the state that it is in, under Lee Fowler's reign, that'll never happen.

Sure, give Lowe another year, because he hasn't run us into the ground completely and he's not halfway through his contract yet, but that's the only reason why. The fact that he played on the 83 team doesn't and shouldn't mean a fucking thing, especially if he's not winning games. Some people were not cut out to coach, and at this point, Lowe hasn't proven himself to not be one of those people. If he stands in the same position next year, cut his ass loose.

But this thread is not about Lowe, it's about fuck-up-fowler.

We wouldn't be having this conversation at all if Fowler hadn't fucked up the 2006 Coaching search - and from all signs, is fucking up the 2009 Women's search. He has systematically neutered the NC State Athletic Department's ability to contribute to the school. That is no easy feat at a DI school. It's well past time for him to leave.
