What is the big deal about it having the potential to hit Alaska? Why would Korea launch an attack on one of the least significant areas in the US? I'm sure there are much better targets within reach.

why the fuck do you think everyone was so concerned about it? did you really think they were attempting to place a satellite in orbit?

From the CNN article:

Quote :
" Chinese and Russian officials had a softer response, calling for restraint and calm. Russian officials also appeared to differ from the U.S. military in terms of their assessment of the launch's success.

"North Korea sent an artificial satellite into an Earth orbit on the morning of April 5. The parameters of the satellite's orbit are being specified now," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said in a statement on the ministry's Web site."

No big surprise there, but I guess we'll see what they figure out!1

Everybody thinks it was a three stage rocket, and that all three stages fell in to the ocean.

But what if...

WHAT IF IT WERE A FOUR STAGE ROCKET DISGUISED AS A THREE STAGE ROCKET?????????????

The US said it was a low flying rocket that landed in the Pacific. Why would low flying rockets have satellites?

R DEY TARDED OR WERE DEY DOIN SOMSING SUSPISHUS?

First, North Korea has to develop a bigger, longer-range missile. MIT scientist Ted Postol calculates that the failed satellite appeared to weigh 150 to 200 kilograms (330 to 440 pounds) and was intended for a low-Earth orbit about 550 kilometers (340 miles) high. It is puny by world standards
