i had a friend who was also a "friend". we knew each other a few years before we got an apartment together cuz we both needed a cheap place to live - not cuz we were in love or anything stupid like that. we were "friends" a few times while we were living together, but our relationship was always totally casual. no gf/bf thing, we just liked being "friends". we had a fight (unrelated to us being "friends") and i made him move out. we didn't speak for months. eventually we became friends again, but not "friends", because by that time i was dating the man i would eventually marry.

moral of the story: if you're both of the mindset that being "friends" is perfectly acceptable, and that the whole thing is casual, there's no reason it won't work. but eventually, girls (and sometimes guys) always end up developing feelings, then the whole casual thing gets shot to shit. lucky for me, he and i didn't have those problems.
