you'd think the network would say "hey, perhaps we shouldn't show him after every big play since he's clearly using enough profanity to make Luther Campbell blush"

Leon Powe out for the rest of the playoffs with a torn ACL.. don't know if this is a huge loss but it doesn't help. i still think the Bulls have a great chance to win the series. Ben Gordon is probably the biggest ball hog in the league but he was lights out last night, hopefully he can do it again.

and the Spurs/Mavs series has to be the worst playoff matchup in a while. not gonna watch one second of those games

yeah what a ballhog, ben gordon, that asshole

he definitely should have passed instead of draining jumper after jumper in the last three minutes

For some reason everytime I turn on a mavs game, i tune in just in time to see dirk brick some contested ugly ass 20 footer. I don't know if it happens frequently or what, but I never stick around to find out because it always pisses me off.

I don't really get this. I know you hate all things UConn, which is cool, but he took 16 shots a game and was second on the team in points per shot (behind sucky Noah). It's not like he's firing up 25-30 a game and shooting 35%...

maybe it's a dumb statement, but it seems like every Bulls game I watch, Gordon takes a bunch of ridiculous, contested shots. I mean, I'm not the first one to make this observation.. here's one of his Urban Dictionary entries:

"Ben Gordon

A selfish but good-when-he's-on basketball player on the Chicago Bulls. He sometimes does really good, but its hard not to be the leading scorer when you take 99% of the shots."

That's fair if you're just using an eye test because he does appear to take crazy shots. Gordon is so undersized that almost every shot he takes looks crazy and contested. He's listed at a very generous 6'3". But he really doesn't take any more shots than any other teams leading scorer. And he has the second highest adjusted FG% and PPS on the team (Noah leads both -- but he sucks offensively and is a huge douchebag, so it doesn't even matter).

He takes a good number of shots, but he makes them...and his efficiency rating is the highest on the team (of players who actually get minutes).

It's not like he's throwing up a huge number of shots and hitting a third of them; Gordon's averaging 45% from the field and 41% from 3.

That was a fucking awesome game last night.

After watching the NCAA snoozefest tournament again this year I don't see how anyone could like college better than the NBA right now. 10 years ago fine, but right now the NBA is by far the superior basketball.

And the no defense argument is hilarious. Why can JJ Redick score 30 in college but put up one of the worst games in basketball history in Game 1 Round 1 of the Eastern Conference playoffs against the fucking sixers.

6 minutes, 0 pts, 0 reb, 0 ast, 1 TO, -13 +/- ahahahah

because JJRedick is a shitty example to use for your point, pretty much all of us here knew he'd suck in the NBA

^but he was one of the highest scoring acc players ever, so obviously the nba d is better on him than the college d was. especially considering that in college he was the d's focus every night, whereas now they barely care about him

to the point i clicked on this thread for though:

WHY IN THE GODDAMN HELL IS A PLAYOFF GAME ON NBATV???

now i have to talk my cable company into giving it to me, hopefully for free but prob not, and no hd

^^^^I still can't believe they trade Chauncey for team and coach killer Allen Iverson. Worst NBA move in years. Look at the Nuggets now.

they are rebuilding. Chauncey got lit by Rondo last year and they knew they couldnt get by Boston/Cleveland anymore.

The chauncey trade and letting rasheed go at the end of the year gives them a chance to rebuild around tayshaun and stuckey. They probably didnt think Iverson would fit so poorly but it still accomplished their goal of getting much younger and cheaper going forward.

Now if they hadn't been idiots and drafted Wade, Melo, or Bosh over Darko they'd be a dynasty and none of this would be an issue.

^^Yes, the Pistons are rebuilding, but they are also dumping salary for 2010 when Lebron, D-Wade, and others are all free agents. Dumars also did the trade because of Iverson's expiring contract. They knew it wasn't a big risk because he only had one year left anyway.

Yes, I was like WTF when the Pistons didn't draft Melo #2. For a player of his caliber, you make room for him. Move R. Wallace to the 5 and swap around Prince and Melo between the 3 or 4 if you have to. I will never get that Darko pick, but hey, he's got a ring, so I guess that's working in Darko's favor...pine rider or not.

^ that's what I meant. They are clearing their books to rebuild.

And they didn't have Rasheed yet when they drafted Darko. If they'd picked Melo they may have not traded for Rasheed thats hard to know... either way they would have been much better with

A) the fan & media choice - Carmelo...

B) the safe choice - Bosh....

C) the risky choice - Wade.....

The only bad option was

D) the shitty foreigner who will almost definitely suck - Darko...

No one knows how to completely KILL momentum from a great playoff series quite like the NBA! Jesus, it seems like a week ago since Gordon played Allen 1 on 1. Jeez...

NCAA season 3P%: 34.2% (2008, before the line was moved: 35.1%)
NBA season 3P%: 36.7%

I am not hating on Gordon (he has been ridiculously clutch in this series), but still thought this write up on him by Simmons was pretty good... just wanted to post it since people were acting like i was stupid for saying he was a ball hog

Quote :
"He finished with the ultimate Ben Gordon box score: 41 points, one rebound, no assists. This is why nobody touched him last summer. He does one thing and that's it. He is always happiest when he's the one scoring. When the ship is sinking, he's like Billy Zane in "Titanic" -- one of the first guys to jump off. This is what scares GMs, and this is why a team that could desperately use someone like him (say, the Zombie Sonics) might be afraid to spend for him. Especially in this economy.

All I know is this: Only a few current players can win two games per playoff series by themselves, and he's one of them. If the goal is to win the title and not just compete for one, then I want Ben Gordon on my team. "
