she is obviously from a small town, and hasn't been exposed to glitz and glamour in her life. she talks and walks in a very country way, and her accent is very different. all in all, she comes off as very unrefined and even 'uncivilized' to some of the young people in the audience who think they are the world just because they follow the latest fashions and music, esp those tarty looking teenage girls they show making disdainful faces when she says she wants to be a pro singer.

You're surprised that people form first impressions based on looks? Have you lived in the real world? Furthermore, first impressions are very weak beliefs and are discarded when they no longer prove practical. Anyway, I'm more surprised that they actually found a good singer for the show. These reality shows usually just get mediocre amateurs who are the best at copying what's at the top of the charts right now.
