You can't actually hear the music there unless you go up towards the stage. If you do that, you get covered in beer and other liquids. It's really just an excuse for thousands of people to get tanked in a field on one of the first pretty days of the year.[Edited on April 22, 2009 at 8:59 AM. Reason : sp]

^which is all well and good, but paying 30 bucks for that is just dumb.

The pics with me in them are not interesting...just overviews of the crowds.
4/23/2009 8:42:30 PM
I'll be there!
4/23/2009 9:03:18 PM
out of about 6 people... no one is willing to drive time to hire the broke friend
4/23/2009 9:37:25 PM
^We're riding 4-wheelers from a friends house through the woods and going back to her place for a cookout to sober up
4/23/2009 9:52:32 PM
yeah...all my perspective rides are out as well...granted i'm only a couple of miles away or so but i'm refuse to drag a full cooler there on foot [Edited on April 23, 2009 at 10:00 PM. Reason : it's time to call in some favors ]
4/23/2009 10:00:09 PM
Our friends bought our tickets in exchange for being the drivers. Works for me, I don't really drink anyways!
4/24/2009 9:26:29 PM
If any of you have no interest in going, but want to make some money, show up about 5 and get the drunks to pay you to drive them where they need to go.I got an offer of $100 to drive these two chicks back to Raleigh last year...
4/24/2009 9:28:48 PM
yay for the friend that loves beach music and doesn't drink! < didn't know that kinda person existed!
4/24/2009 9:52:28 PM

4/24/2009 11:11:02 PM
we are trying to be out there about 10:30the wife is baking brownies and chocolate chip cookies for the cookout afterward. i doubt anyone in our group will know which one they are eating, but i am sure they will be good
4/24/2009 11:13:27 PM

4/25/2009 3:36:26 PM
How much are the tickets?
4/25/2009 3:37:48 PM
did not make it out b/c could find it but glad i didn't
4/25/2009 3:54:33 PM
Just got home. It was crazy hot and some douchebag drunk-ass frat boy poured beer all over me after he tried to steal one from us and I was the DD. Chairmen of the Board was actually my least favorite performer today, which surprised me. I thought Spare Change did a phenomenal job.
4/25/2009 5:56:02 PM
You know how there are events/ happenings/ activities where afterwards you think or say to yourself, "I'm glad I did that, but will never do it again?" Regarding the TBMF, I'm not glad I did that, and I will not ever do it again. It was a combination of the heat, underage d-bags, of-age d-bags, fat chicks who shouldn't consider wearing a bikini, displeasure with music, crowd, etc. It was like being at the fair with a bunch of drunk people, but no good food and out in the middle of f-me, i'm in garnerville.
4/25/2009 6:07:33 PM
i had to sell tickets to this all week.. we sold 700 tickets just on Friday.hearing HEY BOSS YOU GOT DEM BEACH MUSIC TICKETS? for 9 hours straight is no good
4/25/2009 6:19:51 PM
^^ Nail meet head.I really don't like concerts -- too many people around, most of them drunk, music is way too loud (and I don't like beach music) but I agreed to be a DD for my fiancee's sister's family, so I grudgingly went.92-95F, very little wind, no clouds, and we didn't bring a tent.Gzusfrk and I almost got in a fight with some drunk Fratty McFrat. He came up to one of our coolers and randomly stole two beers, and walked off. I decided to let it go -- nothing good comes from arguing with drunks. I wasn't drinking at all, and pretty much everyone else in our party was wasted, so they weren't going to miss the beers. That dude comes close to our area again and Gzusfrk's sister (wasted) throws water on this guy.He and his asshole buddy start to throw beer on everyone in our group, not just the person who started it.Gzusfrk and I get up and tell them to stop, so they immediately start throwing their cheap beer in our faces. I kept everyone separated, else there would been a brawl... I honestly could care less that the guy stole the beers, it was the fact that these drunk assholes purposefully poured and threw beer in our faces (the only two sober people around) after we told them to stop. Really pissed me off. Thankfully none got on my dSLR or Gzusfrk's purse.I hate drunk people. edit -- 2/3rd's of the music played was NOT beach music. Since when is "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" beach music? They played lots of gangsta rap between bands, too. [Edited on April 25, 2009 at 6:26 PM. Reason : ]
4/25/2009 6:20:56 PM
I liked how more people danced to the interludes of rap than to the actual "beach" music.
4/25/2009 6:32:36 PM
And they hardly even played beach music anyways. Maybe four or five songs tops.
4/25/2009 6:40:47 PM
I went to one of the earlier ones back in the day...probably about the 3rd one or so that they had. Also, this style of music isn't completely specific to NC. It's big in SC, too, haha. Also, Chairmen Of the Board aren't even from the Carolinas or anywhere else in the South. They're from Detroit or somewhereorother...I'm pretty sure they got started on the Motown label, along with lots of the other soul/early R&B acts of the day.
4/25/2009 7:48:14 PM
so we have some survivors
4/25/2009 7:59:30 PM
haha, coincidence that the people who had a bad time were DD'ing?
4/25/2009 8:42:54 PM
It wasn't the lack of alcohol that inhibited the amount of fun we were having.
4/25/2009 9:11:56 PM
Hell i don't remember the music played but I was with a group of about 20 friends and I had a great time... it was like tailgating for a game without having to stop drinking for some game! Surprisingly we didn't have any problems with people that were to drunk but I guess with a large group you don't have as many problems
4/25/2009 11:44:42 PM
We had about 16 or so in our group. We really didn't have any problems, and we really did enjoy ourselves until maybe the last 20 minutes. I just think the atmosphere of the BMF has changed too much in the past few years. It used to be more family and more shagging and less of an excuse to drink an entire cooler of beer.
4/26/2009 9:21:21 AM
i had a wonderful time with some awesome people...
4/26/2009 9:28:30 AM
I had a great time too. It was hot though.
4/26/2009 10:31:56 AM
i do not blame any male for wanting to go to this because the number of women out there is insanebut when is it cool for a 70 year old man to shout about how much he loves college - the music is straight up for white trashand it was so fucking hot i couldn't have a good time i was about to diebut the women . . .
