I would just let it be. I wouldn't mention it and I certainly wouldn't get into any Shenanigans to cover for it. It will probably just blow over and if it doesn't, take your punches like a man.

dude its not even an issue. it's more than likely really muffled and the receptionist will assume someones cell accidentally called and then hang up. Even if she does realize its you it won't be an issue and she'll just look at you funny.

but could make for a good FML post.

something similar to this has happened to me before


I've found that it's best to just say "Hey man, private conversations are meant to be kept private. Whoops. My phone called you, and I didn't mean for that to happen. Let's just ignore this, ok?"

I was telling a girl at work about how I left my phone at a restaurant but my friend found it after I left and took it home with him in order to give it to me today...


right as I was saying that the receptionist walked by and smiled and said "you need to tell your friend to watch that butt dialing... he has some interesting conversations about women"

She knows it was you. The smile was to let you know that she wasn't buying your excuse that you "just happened to be discussing" as she walked by, but she's cool and won't make a big deal over it.
