I remember the Red Riot being less gay when I was in South Portland, ME

My elementary school in Okinawa had the toucan as the mascot. The motto was "If toucan, you can." The grammar of that annoyed me really badly when I was a kid.

My middle school mascot was a Dragon. Not so gay, I guess.

This is crazy...I did a search for my elementary school and found a review by a guy who was there exactly when I was there and for the exact same grades...I think at least. Odds are I knew the guy

Anyway, my first elementary school mascot was the Aeo Bird.

westover warriors, and they had each grade divided into three groups. i was a "scout" in 7th and a "brave" in 8th. we took that shit seriously. i remember more than one brawl between the scouts and pathfinders of the 7th grade. it was like having six gangs sanctioned by the school. "spirit week" was always fun too.

they changed the mascot to some non-native american thing a few years back, and implemented uniforms. gay.

my highschool is still the westover wolverines though, and my elementary school is still morganton rd. elementary longhorns.

the "Blue Streaks"

I don't remember the first elementary schools I went to for k & 1st, but I think it was two different places.
2nd & 3rd grade: school mascot was vikings.
4th to 6th grade: school mascot was falcon.
Middle school: tornado
High school: tornado

It is. It sounds to me that the school just wanted to be unique and different, and "wapiti" sounds cooler than "elk".

I, too, attended Mokapu elementary during this time, but grades 1-3. That school was awesome. It was the last time I lived close enough to ride my bike to-and-from school.
