Went to Brown Gardner. Place was packed but I still got my order in under five minutes. Chicken salad sandwich and fries for $4.98. Fries weren't great, sandwich was excellent. Three out of four stars, will dine again. Good work, Mr. SeriousCat.

i like phil's cafe but it is downtown

i'm just saying, though. if you are ever downtown for lunch. yummy. its small and quick and nothing special, but still good. and like 2.5 seconds away from my school.

I have worked in Greensboro for over 5 years and I still couldn't tell you where anything is. Thank you I-40! Although when my lease is up here in Burlington I may consider moving there to have a closer ride to work. FML

you should live where i live! it is so nice. but it is close to downtown so really probably only helpful for downtown people.

and i have lived in gboro for 2 years and still don't know my way around. i know how to get downtown. how to get to friendly. how to get to i40. how to go down wendover, etc.

^^its funny you say that, because i honestly NEVER use i40 unless i am leaving town

closest i came was bryan blvd and now that im gonna be working back downtown again, i'll never go out there near that stupid airport again either

^sounds like you have all the east west roads down. just figure out like holden and maybe another north/south and you can get anywhere

i always come in on like the future 800 or whatever that thing is. off of 85...or right when they split to go to gboro or charlotte. near replacements unlimited.

yeah that exit 131... "to 70" that dumps you out on wendover. i love that exit, it saves like 15 minutes off the trip since they put that in.

but i never get on 40 in town to go anywhere else in town. its just not one of those cities thats built around the freeway. neither is tucson. that layout is really weird when youre used to raleigh.

I'd like to find somewhere nice near PTI (my workplace) where I don't have to listen to airplanes nor highway all the time. I am thinking on the western side of G-boro up 68 or something away from people but where I can get to things if I need them.

^That is the exit where my first motorcycle was stolen. Even though there is NOTHING there the cop told me that is supposedly a bad area.

i sort of like the drive down mt. hope church road. you're right about the time savings but every now and then i'll take MtHC for shits and giggles.

also, yeah kh if you get holden, friendly and new garden down you'll be A+ quality.

Also another good place to eat is Lucky 32. Their lunch isn't particularly expensive. Also the juice shoppe makes a fine smoothie.

A lady I work with told me today that she was worried my motorcycle would be stolen from our parking lot.

This neighborhood is great!

ive been working out by you for a while now, and the commute from my neighborhood is minimal. like 15 miles from my house, straight shot out bryan and around the airport. maybe a 20 minute drive. but not a very trafficky one.

battleground is the shitttttttttttttt

While driving around during lunch, I saw this swaky-ass building: http://is.gd/yVg2

Apartments? It was in what looked like a white people neighborhood.

yeah that home is right by sunset, isn't it? i've seen it but never knew what it was.

btw if you take that susnet road and go back there it'll bring you out on lawndale by the juice shoppe and close to that lucky 32 place.

^^ i think it is condos or maybe apartments. that is literally right next to where i live (country club condos -- right at the light of N elm and sunset).

Another suggestion: Mellow Mushroom 609 S Elm St. I just ate that location for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I don't think it's quite as big as the one in dowtown Raleigh but the food was just as good/better.

I've eaten at the Mellow Mushroom in Raleigh, Winston, Boone, and Durham. I don't really need to try the one in Greensboro, I get it.

Word, I used to ride around Buena Vista in Winston when I was little and pick out all the rich folk houses I would live in one day.

Oh, yeah, I've taken Cornwallis all the way out to Battleground. Bunch of nice houses surrounding a bunch of tiny ranches.

^ yea well mine are the ones that are on the inside not the ones on the outside when you go into that parking lot. the outside ones are fancy schmancy. the inside ones are nice (the ones that face in toward a courtyard, not the ones that face toward the parking lot) but they are old. renovated but its a historic place so they've been there since like the 30s i think.

i like the neighborhood though. and hopefully one day someone will want to buy my condo. sigh.

http://is.gd/yVg2 man...I lived there for two years and just moved out last month. It was built in the 1020s I think for single mothers. When we moved in, rent was 490 for one bed, dining room, huge living room. Now it's 620 a month on Wrenn-Zealy Properties. http://www.wzproperties.com/

^^ Pretty decent. Standard cheap Mexican lunch special meal. Three out of four stars.

^ Bitchin

Some guy in a brown Silverado almost ended me and my bike this morning on Battleground. Dude passed me in the center turn lane doing warp 9. If you see him, shake your fist angrily in his direction.

hahaha ernie, grove street rules. a family friend owns a house over there and i got paid to clean it out like 4 years ago (or so, right when gta and CJ were really popular). if anyone remembers the thread "prison letters from brandon"

also did you check out my hood? im thinking you could get a nice place on the cheap over here now, cause there are a decent amount of empty units... to the point where a few of them are for SALE/RENT now. if youre looking for somewhere to live, i know the realtor who is selling a unit in my little parking area thing. also know a couple potential landlords if youre looking to rent

I haven't been through there (STALK STALK STALK), but I've taken a pretty good look at it from Cone on the way out. It's definitely nicer than most of the rest of what I see on Cone. I'll probably talk with you in the coming months if I start looking around here.

you really can't beat the location

and it is 100 times nicer than any other preplanned neighborhood around here. its been here since the 60s, the guy i got my place from said he paid 15k for it back in like 1964.

and you'll notice over the next couple months that once all the trees come out, this neighborhood is very very "pretty" ~ especially when all the trees come in on the hills bordering cone and battleground.

the city is putting in some kind of greenway too, to connect with the others. so soon i'll be able to walk to more than just mcdonalds and the gas station

Every morning at the convenience store down the road, the WS Journal box is empty, while the N&R box is still stocked. Even the people who live in Greensboro don't like Greensboro.

Wendover area near Costco? You're pretty close. He's on High Point Rd near Sedgefield.

No delivery, and it's really more of a store than a restaurant but he sells really delicious sandwiches - very thin bread, fresh sliced deli meats (mortadella, jambon ham, turkey, salami, whatever), and makes meat, spinach, cheese pies, stuffed grapeleaves, falafel, etc. And sells everything from basic spices, pastas, rice, olive oils to chocolates, roasted nuts, cookies, etc etc etc.

Full disclosure: My dad's the owner. That's why I say I'm way biased.

Hey, just because people know the paper sucks (good ol' News & Fishwrap) doesn't reflect on the town itself.

(Yes, I moved out and didn't move back, but I still feel a small piece of allegiance to the city where I grew up...)

^^^he's been in that shopping center since it opened...the main reason we haven't moved? money... along with the fact that my dad's a picky mofo.

^^he's palestinian, not jewish. but i'm pretty sure he sells some kosher and halal foods.
