i don't think any of the people on the island seem to have much computer knowledge. sayid has experience putting together electrical equipment, but it still isn't obvious if he's a computer geek or not.

I just went back through part of the season 2 thread, and wow, it was nothing but everyone trolling everyone else about how their theories sucked.

Anyways, no one mentioned it in that thread, but while watching one of the season 2 episodes with Hurley in the shrink's office, there is a picture of an island in very plain view. He also said that he was on a dock, or pier, with 22 other people, and it collapsed as soon as he walked out to it, which apparently was why he was in therapy to start with. I just found it odd that it matched the # of survivors from the tail section.

For some reason I keep thinking this is all in Hurley's head - the whole show, and somehow they are all connected to Hurley's life in some way.

I don't think it's anything as silly as the island is all in Hurley's head; they wouldn't have written out whatshername so easily if it were.

If season 6 starts with Jack's eye opening and they have just crashed on the island again in an alternate reality where they have a the memories of crashing the first time, and this is what JJ Abrams and the writers had planned from the beginning, that is cool. However, I find it retarded that they would use almost the exact same idea for the Star Trek movie (not the memories part, but a reboot based on time travel).

Didn't Lost start back in like 2004? One thing the writers have made very clear is that whatever happens in the final season, they planned it from the beginning. So if it is the same as the Star Trek deal, there isn't much they can really do about it since they thought of it first.

J.J. Abrams directed Star Trek. He also created Lost, as in he is credited for the story itself. Which means if they really had the end planned from the beginning, he would have known about it. And he directed the first two episodes (pilot). So yeah, it's possible he directed a movie that sort of revolves around the same idea he planned to use for the climax of his 6yr long mini-series. So, I can see why someone may think that's retarded.

*although, it's really a gimmick in Star Trek that allows future movies/series to ignore the canon of all of the old movies and shows. Which is a good idea. And the time-travel is ultimately a small part of Star Trek.


It's very possible that Lost will use the alternate time-line somehow. It's well within the time travel rules that Lost as laid out already. The only wild card is going to be the Desmond/Mice factor. They didn't travel through time the way the others have. And there was nothing like that in Star Trek. So while the basic, creating an alternate time-line is possible... they've got to bring the stuff with Desmond back around somehow. If they don't, I'm going to be pissed because it's a major random thing to create and focus on as much as they did.

i think its pretty obvious with desmond's involvement, his story is the only one left out of the church scene from the end of the last season, however i highly doubt the alternate timeline will be some land in LA bullshit. I haven't seen star trek could someone enlighten me on the basic time travel / alternate universe correlation?

so apparently frank lapidus and ilana will pretty much be main characters throughout season 6 while desmond will only have a limited role. i find that pretty disappointing since desmond is special and the rules don't apply to him. i bet it probably has something to do with the actor's sexual harassment incident a while back.

i'm guessing he'll probably just keep trying to wash his hands clean of the island and insist on not having anything to do with it. and i guess season 6 will start in the beginning of february and will apparently take a break for a few weeks because of the olympics, which aren't even on ABC. i guess the network probably doesn't want to compete for ratings. still, it just makes me hate the olympics that much more for disrupting lost

^ i've had enough of your bitching about this. first of all, i wasn't the one who brought up lost in the V thread. someone else said elizabeth mitchell made them excited for lost, and i proceeded to tell them not to get too excited because of what she said in an interview in Entertainment Weekly. it was common knowledge that was released in the press, not insider information i read on some message boards or some shit. everyone else in the V thread treated it as such, and you were the only one who complained about it. no one sided with you. the best part was when you started posting major events that happened on the show, thus ruining it for anyone else who may have had interest in the lost and hadn't seen it yet. you did worse shit than i did.

well since you claim you don't read the threads (which seems like bullshit to me), you wouldn't know what goes on in them. this was posted before season 5 started:

how is that any different than me saying frank lapidus and ilana (who i actually know a major spoiler about that i am withholding) will have bigger roles? and i was just speculating on what might happen with desmond since it was reported that he won't have as much screen time, most likely because of a sexual harassment incident. that's all anyone else has done leading up to season premieres. i haven't revealed any major plot details. saying two people are more important doesn't really mean a whole lot outside of the circumstances about WHY they are important, which i don't know in lapidus' case. all i can do about him is wonder what it is just like everyone else.

yeah i started going back through season 5 recently, but right now hulu and abc.com only have the second half up, which i hadn't reached yet . in a way you're lucky you never saw the last 2 episodes back when they aired. i was furious after the end of the finale. at least you won't have to wait very long for the new season after seeing it.

well there are several people that feel as I do. Just because they don't post anything doesn't mean they don't feel that way. They just decide to avoid any discussion of the show at all because of nerds like you that read into the personal lives of actors to figure out which way the plot of a show will lean. If I were to tell you Charlie pace was in every episode of the final season that would bea HUGE spoiler. I don't see how you can't see that.
