not sure how much the darnkess (weather, not opponent) affected Roddick, because they both had the same conditions
but he sure as hell doesn't mind looking like a whiny bitch on the court to the umpires 6/1/2009 4:48:21 PM |

i made a bet with a friend at the beginning of the year that fed would win at least two slams. after the aussie i was a little down on my luck cuz i was obviously counting that one. needless to say i still like my chances :-). it'd also be cool to see fed grab the career grand slam too. 6/4/2009 1:36:55 PM |

Quote : | "Extraordinary scenes on Chatrier for which I have no relevant graphic. Gonzo is incensed by a call, berates the umpire, then returns to the scene of the crime and proceeds to bend down and clean the 'mark' with his backside. Two points later the line judge in question calls in Gonzo's favour and we get some sarcastic applause. He holds serve amidst all that." |

i think i was enraged by nbc's coverage of the french last year...and i feel the same this year. they just finished showing the soderling/gonzo match (which ended 2 hours ago) instead of showing the fed match that is happening live.
i have to think that many more people would be interested in the federer match...and as best i can tell, the only time the fed match will be airing is during tennis channel's coverage from 4-11 this evening. what the heck? 6/5/2009 12:58:23 PM |

I don't really know much about Soderling's game, but does he even have anything he can consistently hurt Federer with? Del Potro just came out and overpowered Federer in the early sets. Federer didn't even sniff a break until the 4th set. I'm not sure Soderling can do the same, even if Federer doesn't play his best.
It's going to be hard to beat a guy you've never beaten before, on a such a huge stage, with pretty much the entire crowd on Federer's side. 6/5/2009 3:02:11 PM |
BigDave41 All American 1301 Posts user info edit post |
soderling definitely has something he can beat federer with...huge groundstrokes on both sides and a big serve. if he's on...he can beat anyone (as evidenced in him dominating the best clay court player [possibly ever] last weekend). if he's not...it could be an easy one for federer.
i like federer in 4...completing the career grand slam and tying sampras with one win would be cool.

NOW they are showing the Federer/Del Potro match, like 16 hours afterward. but they are announcing from the perspective of watching the recording like us, so they are talking in past tense. they're not even trying to keep it suspensful, they keep saying stuff like "see HERE is where Del Potro could have done this to stay in the match..." this is absolutely horrible, how could NBC think this was a good idea6/6/2009 11:34:04 AM |

The Nadal argument is fucking retarded. It's not like Nadal was not playing in the tournament...he got fucking beat...by the guy Federer just pounded. The big thing about winning a tournament is playing consistently through every match. Federer did that better than every other player in the tournament...including Nadal. No asterisk. 6/7/2009 4:05:12 PM |

that dude running on the court was ridiculous -- WHERE THE HELL WAS SECURITY?
He got to Federer, put something on his head, 5 security guys converge, the dude gets away from them, leaps the net and almost made it to Soderling before being tackled.
It could have been tragic had that guy had bad intentions. do the fucking french not remember Seles being knifed? wake up Frenchies. 6/7/2009 4:05:53 PM |
