Jen

no, thats not weird at all. however, imagine if he asked to look through your purse, wouldn't that be a little odd? its different, though, i agree, due to the types of things girls keep in their purses and what things men keep in their wallets. I used to love showing my wallet to girls, especially in college when i rocked a velcro wallet but now i don't carry one at all. just a check card and a license at all times.

I ask these things too and I also ask if I can look in women's purses and if I can touch people's hair and if I can hug them or if I can smell guy's side burns or smell people's clothes. I don't usually ask this of people I don't have a relationship with or some kind of rapport. I think being private is someone's choice but that does not mean I have to understand it.

" If people do not need to know what it is you are telling them, then you're likely just gossiping. I don't discuss anything that doesn't directly involve the person with whom i'm speaking and if it does it is usually for the purposes of reaching some sort of solution or consensus on a course of action moving forward rather than secretly discuss what someone else is doing or thinking."

yea i dunno what i do. i don't think expressing concern to a friend over another friend's actions is gossiping. maybe it is but there is a purpose to it other than just the spread of information (especially when it isn't spreading if everyone already knows). but girls are weird. i mean i have 3 close girlfriends and i think we are all overly involved in each others lives. if i'm not around and something bad has happened to me or they are worried about me i HOPE they are talking about me "behind my back" and expressing concern or wondering what they should say/do. i think that is just friendship and it is within the bounds.

but i guess gossip would be like "oh my god did you hear judy from 10th grade is pregnant and doesn't know who the father is." like, shock value. and it doesn't even pertain to anything because it is being spread by people that aren't her friends/concerned with the well being/trying to offer support, etc. so i suppose i agree with your definition!

^ i agree. i'm pretty open and not modest and i think i can be overly friendly. i don't mean to be i just don't realize when i'm prying too much into someone else's life or invading their personal space. i just find other people really interesting and i like to hear their stories and learn from them. and i can be animated when listening or talking and like grab their arm or something and be like "NO WAY." or play with their hair or touch their clothes haha...and i guess just be really, really irritating

"Really?? That has never even crossed my mind. I ask most guys I date if I can look through their wallet (supervised clearly) not for the sake of snooping but because im really curious what they have in there. Its fun because you learn a little about their personality. Is that still considered weird/ sketchy?"
More weird than sketchy. And to me, it was weird because I hadn't encountered it before.

The general idea of nosiness has never been a good one to me... I personally dislike gossip, celebrity worship, and all that crap (Entertainment Tonight, Access Holywood, TMZ, National Enquirer, People Magazine, etc.) Personally, I think anything more than an incidental knowledge of that stuff, (or sports for that matter,) is somewhat of a waste of brain space.

But yeah, as for asking to nose through your significant other's stuff.....
....it's definitely not first date material.

I'm sure many people like the attention, I guess. Although then, I'd wonder if they were narcissistic...

I don't find anything weird about a girl wanting to look through my phone, e-mail, buddy list, what have you... it'd be sort of flattering, really

I am going to have to draw the line at contacting my family members and inviting them to visit in defiance of my expressed wishes, though. Lesson learned, that will earn the boot immediately

hahaha, shadowrunner!! I am a side burn sniffing whore. You have some very long side burns, right?

When I first met metalred and fareako, they smelled so good I had to sniff them. I think they were weirded out but I am cute and lovable so they let it slide. That is truly a way I show my love.

I have fairly straight hair, but I have to occasionally trim the 'burns once they get long enough to start curling out away from my face. When I brush my hair after showering, I also comb my sideburns.

Some women see how far they can go in making you accept their alternate version of reality.

And some of these women never learn what reality truly consists of, because someone is always there to put up with their bullshit.

"Breakups
Jerry's approach to relationships is notoriously fickle, and he has broken up with women, or provoked them into breaking up with him for some of the most trivial of reasons.

They include:

For refusing to taste his pie at the coffee shop ("The Pie").
For wearing the same dress on every date (she dumped him for snooping around her closet.) ("The Seven").
For eating her peas one at a time ("The Engagement").
Because she had "man hands" ("The Bizarro Jerry").
Because he realizes he doesn't want to be with someone exactly like himself ("The Invitations").
Because she had once dated Newman, who had ended the relationship ("The Big Salad").
Because she wouldn't give him a massage ("The Masseuse").
Because he drugged a woman with wine and turkey so he could play with her old toy collection. ("The Merv Griffin Show")
Because he kept spitting out the mutton she cooked for him and hiding it in her napkins ("The Wink")
Because he cheats on his "wife" to give another woman to give her the dry-cleaning discount. ("The Wife")
[edit] Jerry's famous guest star girlfriends
Teri Hatcher in "The Implant" and in "The Finale".
Marcia Cross in "The Slicer".
Courteney Cox in "The Wife".
Jami Gertz in "The Stall".
Jane Leeves in "The Virgin" and "The Contest".
Jennifer Coolidge in "The Masseuse".
Janeane Garofalo in "The Invitations".
Kristin Davis in "The Pothole" and "The Butter Shave".
Amanda Peet in "The Summer of George".
Marlee Matlin in "The Lip Reader".
Catherine Keener in "The Letter".
Debra Messing in "The Wait Out" and in "The Yada Yada".
Christine Taylor in "The Van Buren Boys".
Lauren Graham in "The Millennium".
Lori Loughlin in "The Serenity Now".
Melinda Clarke in "The Muffin Tops".
Mariska Hargitay in "The Pilot".
A.J. Langer in "The Fatigues" "

"We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

So, if an old friend I know
Drops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?

Here we go again
Asking where I've been
You can't see these tears are real
I'm crying

We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And be can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

Oh let our love survive
Or dry the tears from your eyes
Let's don't let a good thing die

When honey, you know
I've never lied to you
Mmm yeah, yeah "

If I were you, I would have a serious talk and let your SO know your stand on the situation. Even if you have nothing to hide, you may feel almost violated when they do do shit like that. I'll break up with my SO before I cheat on him so why does he have to go snooping? Also, they may find something that is "shady" when all along its pretty innocent and they blow shit out of proportion.

If she keeps doing it after you ask her to stop, then it's an issue to be discussed, but not necessarily a reason to break up. It might be that she's just curious and wasn't raised with the same respect for privacy that others were. If she can't respect your wishes for privacy or continues to think you're hiding something when you're not, then she's a headcase.

I'm a snoop and admit it to guys at the beginning of the relationship. With the last 3 long term relationship I snooped and found reasons to break up with them, so until they can prove they aren't a dbag then yeah I'll snoop. And I always let them snoop through my things.
