The opposite of this would be Jimmy John's on Hillsborough, where I think they put an entire head's worth of shredded lettuce on your sandwich. Half the time I can barely close the thing for the salad contained within. I like lettuce on subs, but that's a little excessive.

Used to be. Not anymore though.

Subway has stacks of each type of meat and they create your sandwich from those stacks.
Quiznos has little piles of each type of meat, and they create your sandwich from that. (Right?)

Jersey Mike's does the whole fresh cut meats and cheeses thing.

I don't know about Jimmy John's.

Jimmy John's has a slicer in the line area that seems to get used every now and then--I think they slice up some meat, use it up, then slice more, etc.

sometimes i wonder:

i worked at jersey mikes for a year and a half and could slice the hell out of some meat.

why at the grocery store does it take three fucking hours and the meat is like a quarter inch thick? wtf these people look like they have been working there for like 30 years too

"What's even better is when people come into Quizno's and assume that the process HAS to be the same as Subway's, even though subway is the only restaurant I know of around here that uses that procedure.

People will go to Quizno's and ask for something, say a Mesquite Chicken. They will say nothing more and will walk down to the cash register. When it comes out of the oven they start yelling "I DIDN'T TELL YOU TO PUT RANCH ON THAT!", etc.

If they went to McDonalds and asked for a #4, would they expect that the people are going to ask them what they want on it?! Quizno's has even started doing number based orders, so you can actually just ask for a "Number 5" now."

JJ's slices and puts the packs in the fridge below the make tables. They end up keeping around 10-15 packs, so the meat you get is about 2+ days old on average. But, at least it's been portioned on wax paper and wrapped in saran wrap....

When I make the subs, I don't load on the lettuce unless ppl ask for EXTRA LETTUCE, b/c it really does get insane. I wish we had more condiments: ranch, honey mustard, f'ing SALT AND PEPPER...but my pleas go unheard.

The sammich places really do nickel & dime you, though. JJ's has recently cut the vinegar with water, so the vinaigrette is really vegetable oil + water + a tiny bit of vinegar + salt. Yea...we have salt.....idk why the hell it's not in tiny white cube form.
