I take back what I said in another thread about Shaq being a terrible trade for the Cavs.
Since his contract expires after next season, they can go after Bosh like I was hoping for.
Not a bad deal at all. 6/25/2009 8:15:58 PM |

just a rumor at this point i think, but basically golden state is planning to trade like 4 guys, including curry, to get him. PHX would also get marco belinelli and brandan wright, who could turn out to be pretty good players

well they came out and said they had no plans of including curry in any deal, so take that for whats it worth. the way i heard it, they planned on including that draft pick until curry fell into their laps. they thought he'd go sooner so him being available has in turn thrown off the whole deal. 6/28/2009 6:04:54 PM |

He's stiff, not that quick, and not athletic. He gets almost every rebound that is within reach. But the fact that he has limited mobility has as a lot to do with his low rebound averages...not the fact that he plays soft, because he doesn't.

*Pistons pursuing Ben Gordon *Knicks/Mavs trying to get Kidd *Spurs/Suns interested in Odom *Nuggets want Grant Hill *Bobcats thinking about AI *Lakers pushing to sign Odom/Ariza *Celts would love to move Allen, Big 3 account for 93% of cap *KG wants Sheed to join him *Spurs looking at Sheed
This is an interesting offseason BUT NOTHING LIKE NEXT YEARS IS GOING TO BE 7/1/2009 2:39:30 PM |

Damn that is alot of possible theories, but your right next year will be amazing. I really think the Spurs are trying to get some high octane in their system. I don't think Sheed is quite a fit, but would add some toughness. Odom with the spurs would be damn near amazing IMO: Parker, Ginobli, Jefferson, Duncan, and Odam...I mean really!!!
And if Celtics get Sheed, I see Allen probably gone. I would not take that trade. Pierce/Allen/KG >>> Pierce/Sheed/KG.
Oh yeah...and the Bobcats need to leave AI wherever he lands. No good in Charlotte!!! III

I'm just saying that if you watched more you'd see that he's probably the best low-post scorer in the league. So what that he can score well from the outside?? That doesn't change the fact that he gets the bulk of his points in the paint and just straight up beasts people on the inside. Shaq is pretty much the only guy that he doesn't push around...but he's still been getting the best of that match-up for the past few years. He dominated Dwight Howard both times they went head-to-head this year, heavily out-scoring and out-rebounding him.
I'll say it again...you don't know what you're talking about. Along with Shaq and Howard, he's one of the strongest players in the league and definitely not soft. 7/1/2009 5:11:16 PM |
Dammit100 All American 17605 Posts user info edit post |
physical strength =/= playing aggressive. so about his rebounding, if he's always "beasting" people in the paint as you say, why doesn't he get more boards? maybe i should watch more basketball. 7/1/2009 5:12:32 PM |

^^You mean why did he out-rebound the best rebounder in the NBA in their head-to-heads??
I explained earlier why he doesn't have huge rebound numbers...and it's not because he's soft. Just because you aren't a great rebounder doesn't make you "soft." Are Karl Malone and Shaq softer than Dennis Rodman?? Because he averaged several more rebounds over his career than they did.
And yes...you do need to watch more basketball. 7/1/2009 6:09:30 PM |

I'm just saying that you can't be soft if you consistently get the better of who most of the league regards as one of the strongest, most athletic big men to come into the game in a long time.7/1/2009 6:57:39 PM |

Maybe it's just my lack of knowledge about the NBA, but why exactly does Detroit need another 2 guard? Rip Hamilton was pretty damn good last time I checked. It seems like they would have been better off getting another PG or big man. Of course, I don't know why I expected a logical move from the team that traded Billups for Iverson.

I don't give a shit how good Ariza is going to get...I don't think he'll ever reach the level that Artest is at...even while he is declining. Artest is one of the most underrated players in the NBA. Fuck...the Lakers are a shoe-in to repeat now (unless they have an NC State-like injury bug).

Rockets and Ariza agree to terms
I'm not a big fan of this move for him right now. He should have stayed in LA or gone to Cleveland where he could play off of star players and get open looks through lebron/kobe collapsing defenses. I don't understand why the Rockets would be happy with a 9 pt 5 board stat line from that guy. He wasn't shit before LA (Orlando experiment) and he will no longer be shit (Houston). 7/3/2009 10:22:24 AM |

These signings have been flat out awful this year. No one has cap room and there aren't any stàrs available but its a very deep group of established veteran free agents...
So why are people panicking and blowing their wad on shitty players like villanueva? Detroit overpaid dearly and locked themselves into a marginal team for years to come.
So pissed at the bobcats for blowing all their cap space on scrubs like nazr, diop, and vlad... Without being prisoner to that garbage we could add rasheed, and artest. And if we hadn't panicked for richardson we could buy an entire starting lineup for gods sake.
So incompetent. 7/3/2009 3:40:43 PM |
mambagrl Suspended 4724 Posts user info edit post |
Its already over. Artest is the best defender in the league and now the Lakers can lock down 4 positions every game and Kobe can take an easier assignment=more energy while artest shuts down the best wing scorer on the other team(melo/pierce/carter/lebron). Also the tough leadership and winning attitude artest takes where he goes will bode well for the lakers.
Shaq is bad for the cavs. Maybe even a worse fit than the suns because they won't be able to run and get lebron driving before the defense sets as long as shaq is on the floor his man will just help before shaq can catch up. Playing at a slower pace will just clog the lane for lebron since shaq can't hit 15 footers. A west or bosh would've been great for them but now I'm certain they won't make it past orlando/boston. 7/3/2009 4:03:58 PM |
