So how are we all going to meet up? I'm going to be there with some friends, but it would be sort of interesting to meet drunk people from TWW.

...Do you really want to go up to a random stranger in a public place and go "Hey, I'm Big4Country. What's your handle?"

too bad they won't have any ribs

if it's anything like last year, it'll be Dixie cups with a forkful of shredded pork in it

Mmmm the Pork Festival ftw.

But this def seems worth it for the bourbon alone. Bourbon is the best drink ever. Baker's, served neat, is divine.

Do they do mixed drinks as well? Like mint juleps? Or is it all straight liquor?

I just saw this thread for the first time today and got really fucking excited. Then I saw its in Regency Park and my mind put on the brakes. There are probably gonna be a billion yankees there looking for some Memphis dry-rub ribs and the KC Masterpiece booth, and wondering why Jack Daniels isn't in attendance.

I hope I can still go! The drama queen had to buy the tickets this year before I was able to. Now last night at the house party a guy that no one had ever met said that he "didn't leave the bar to listen to this," when the drama queen was saying something that most people didn't want to hear. She yelled at him because of his comment and he said he was sorry. Then she left the room and I told him to calm down because she is a drama queen and not to worry about it. Drama queen's cousin was nice enough to bring the topic up today and tell drama queen about what I said and now drama queen is mad at me and she has the tickets under her name at will call. I'm gonna be pissed, if I miss this all because of drunk people's over reactions to nothing at 2:00 am.

^^I guess I could have just said the person who has the tickets under her name at will call is pissed off at some of us for no reason at all. I have about 2 weeks to make things better though. She always forgives her cousin and me when she gets pissed at us.

^Today they predicted 99. Last year when I went to the BBB fest it was about 80 degrees and sunny, so the weather was perfect.

can you bring food in? the gf carried bags of chips (we bought them in bulk, broke them into smaller pieces, and put them in zip-lock bags) and pretzels to the beerfest, and we're thinking about doing the same thing for this...they didn't bother to check at the beerfest, but i've not been to this one before

i've never binge drunk in my life...but my experience is that consuming carbs before and during the imbibing of alcohol reduces the chance of a hangover (in addition to keeping hydrated, of course)

*shrug*

I guess it depends on how you define "binge drinking"...

i'd consider "binge drinking" to be the point at which your body decides it's had enough and makes you vomit...i've never drunk to the point of puking and have no desire to, so i don't plan to start now

i don't suppose that's a technical definition, but if you pace yourself well enough, you can stay pretty drunk without vomiting...and in that case, eating and hydrating with your alcohol should keep you from having a hangover

I kind of see "binge drinking" as the opposite of "drinking in moderation"

sounds like you have definitely done some binge drinking before. just cause you didn't throw up doesn't mean you weren't binging...

just saying....get out of your tower every now and again....

calm down, it's okay...i'm not judging, just saying that drinking to the point of puking is pointless and i have no intention of engaging in that particular activity since it carries no inherent value for ME

by definition, "binge drinking" is:

Quote :
"Binge drinking is a common pattern of excessive alcohol use in the United States. The National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism defines binge drinking as a pattern of drinking that brings a person’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) to 0.08 grams percent or above. This typically happens when men consume 5 or more drinks, and when women consume 4 or more drinks, in about 2 hours."

http://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/quickstats/binge_drinking.htm

and since i've never done that, i'm pretty sure my statement of "i've never binge drunk in my life" is valid and accurate...again, i'm not saying it's bad, just saying it holds no value for me

you drink, but your BAC has never been above .08?

what's the fucking point then?

to enjoy the beverage?

i'm sorry, i didn't realize that alcohol could not POSSIBLY be enjoyed until your BAC reached a certain point...no one told me

so, since i've obviously been doing it wrong, what is the magic number at which alcohol is actually enjoyable? you know, so i don't miss out on it

it's a social gathering built around BOURBON. you're buying a ticket to a festival built around BOOZE. if you aren't drunk at the BOURBON festival, you're a fucking choad.
