Actually, I've not had a single problem until last week. I bought it in 2005 new so I really can't complain but it might be time for an upgrade. Once on bolt gets loose the thing begins to fall apart. Plus, I'm ok with a new car.

Shop labor is pretty much always a ripoff unless you lack the tools or equipment to do it yourself, and in most cases buying the tools or equipment is still cheaper

If I had to pay shop rates for all the work I've done myself on all my cars...I could most likely buy a new BMW M3 for the same moneys.Live. Love. LEARN. There's nothing I don't want to learn more about. Well, except for Renaissance Faires and Comic Cons and role playing games. And I can honestly say, especially with the online resources available to me today...I'm not scared to attempt to repair ANYTHING. And while a lot of it does require some investment in time in the beginning, I end up saving a lot of money. The cool thing is...so many things around us share similar components, it seems like a new synapse has been bridged in that I understand how so many other things work after fixing something for the first time. It's exponentially building on itself. The sky's the limit.

I can change my alternator in 10-15 minutes ('89 Mustang), but it was a BITCH in my old Honda (you have to take lots of other things off to access it) and it would take multiple hours... I dunno about a Focus
