I'm in CO, but any time they have it here, the lake demographics change dramatically

I just get pissed because everyone brings out there kids and their neighbor's kids.

Like they don't get that kids can fish free 365 days a year.

gotcha, here you can fish anytime if you are under 16 but the limit is half, unless you buy a license.

Another benefit of having a kid, my walleye daily limit went from 2 to 3 for the next 15 years

[Edited on June 24, 2009 at 4:46 PM. Reason : half limits? wow. i know a lot of guys who take their kid fishing just to get a second limit]

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a day. Then he'll get a $165 ticket and wish he had just gone to the fish market.*

how much fuckin trash and general habitat degredation will there be with these opportunists casting lines unchecked?

what's keeping them from buying a fishing license and doing that anyway? it's not like there's a test you have to pass to get a license.

i don't think y'all really understand this. hardly anyone knows about this shit. maybe a couple hundred people take advantage of it statewide, i bet.

sounds like you're just trolling anyway

o trust me i know, they leave fish and beer bottles all over the place

i dont feel like a person that actually seeks a recreational license, no mater how minimal the cost, would have so little respect.

im sure there are a few, but i cant fathom it

Every year, on July 4th, every lake in NC is the biggest clusterfuck it has ever been.
I thought $4.00 gas would keep that from happening last year, but neigh a new record was set.
And I assure you that this year will set a new record for clusterfucking of the lakes again despite the economic woes.

If they're going to give away a day where people will trash the lakes I'd say 07/04 is probably the best one to give away. That way we can just get it all over with in one fell swoop and move on.

i can't find the prices that you posted for youth license costs.

my son is 3 and i want to get a license for him, but i can't seem to find where to buy it online.

i should have purchased when he was born.

the discounted before-a-certain-age licenses require more documentation (to prove the child's age), so they have a separate process for it

lemme see what i can find

BULLSHIT

Lake Gaston used to be great for bank fishing but the local Realtors decided to target market the whole fucking place to retired NJ sewer dwellers that have never fished a day in their life. You can't even find a bridge here anymore worth fishing off of without having to deal with living cigarette butts with hollow eyes giving you shit. not one single public fishing spot for 40 miles

if im going to drive to raleigh, i might as well just drive to SC and do some river fishing.

I was countering the comment that there was no shortage of fishing spots. Well of course not, if you're willing to drive to this one spot in the center of the state

you know, you hear people talk about how nice all the people they meet fishing are and shit

that's total bullshit

between the few folks on here who say they like to fish and the tards over at ncwaterman.com, i'd have to say that 3/4 of all fisherman are one or more of the following:

uninformed
over-opinionated
douchebags
narrow-minded cousin-fuckers
rich frat boys (this kinda goes w/ douchebags)
general assholes

the other 1/4 are genuine good people who just like relaxing, but the rest of them are missing the point of fishing.

[Edited on June 25, 2009 at 1:35 PM. Reason : i really understand why folks stereotype me so quickly]

I was fly fishing for carp in my backyard this AM. Like 60 degrees, just beautiful. Caught two under three pounds on a breadball fly, fun as hell. There's some big ass carp at Lake Lynn I remember, you could see shadows 50 feet out from the bridges.

They have fishing tournaments at the local marina on the way to where I worked in VA and every morning to and from work I would see them milling around their boats and shout "Get a job hippies!" at them.

not really connected to anything but it made me chuckle

Ewww I hate those people. They move down here and talk smack about the weekenders. Bitch I've been coming to this lake since 1978 and you're going to try to tell me I'm the problem just because I can't afford to live full time in a $500k house in a rural area with no jobs? GTFO and STFO plz.

There's a huge difference between fishing for carp and fly fishing for carp. It hasn't caught on everywhere.

I prefer to "hunt" carp anyway with my bow

I've only been on two "hunts" and they were to eradicate carp from two different lakes. It was sponsored by the CO DOW. We had teams of two and each team had a 50 gallon trashcan - there was a couple hundred dollar prize for the biggest haul. I am assuming they used them as mulch.
