fun game tonight. US up 1-0 in 1st few min and we hold that score to halftime Haiti rattles off 2 goals to start the second half, 1-2 Haiti US scores in extra time to tie 2-2 - Final
Obviously we were playing our worst players, but the Ching & Davies sub around 70' changed our aggressiveness for the better 7/11/2009 9:53:05 PM |

i didnt get to see the game so i have no idea who played good or bad, but im not surprise that we almost lost.
i did notice stuart holden set up the first and scored the tying goal. hes the only midfielder in this crop of players that is worth anything for the future 7/12/2009 1:13:45 PM |

Awesome strikes by both Haiti on its first goal and by Holden. I was beginning to think there wasn't an American who could score from more than twenty yards out.

End of Regulation Time USA (1 : 1) Panama
30' overtime coming up...
Some overall observations so far: -- Cooper is a shit finisher... and soccer player overall. He loses the ball WAY too much. -- I cant tell if Ching is a good instigator/actor, or gets really unlucky when challenging a 50/50 ball. Panama is mugging him any chance they get and it is never getting called. -- Holden, Pierce, Rogers, and Beckerman look like great promising A team players in a few years.
We're playing with great tempo, but I still have a bad feeling that Panama will beat us with a counter at some point... they have been dangerous with this all game.
Penalty Kick!....104'.....and the TV feed goes to shit right before the kick GOOOOOOALLLLL Cooper w/ the PK 2-1 US

*****FINAL***** USA (2 : 1) Panama
Great game... we showed a lot of character coming back for 0-1
LOL... Panama players getting yellow and red cards after the game for bitching out the Ref for letting the game be decided by a PK. It looked like the coaching staff was also trying to get into the Ref's face after the game. The side Refs were trying to protect the head Ref. Panama fans are throwing shit onto the field. Panama players are thowing punches at the security guards trying to get to the Ref. LOL... fuckin Panama...

Was just watching espn deportes and they confirmed what I thought was true. Today's Mexican game will be the first sporting event held at the new Cowboy's Stadium. Jerry Jones, the businessman and maneuvering politician that he always is, made an appearance at the Mexican teams final practice and said that Azteca had some inspiration in this new stadium. Jerry Jones with a photo op and publicity, imagine that
If I were a betting man I bet there will be a Mexican or two in along with some red, white, and green in the stands today 7/19/2009 12:36:45 PM |

i started watching right in time to see that Honduran player take a dive in the box when no one was within 3 feet of him.
Great passing on Cooper's goal but how did the two backs leave him unmarked like that? Were they trying to keep him offside or something? 7/23/2009 10:10:39 PM |

didn't catch the game - was hoping to watch it after work, but i accidentally caught the score on digg, so i've gone ahead and read up about it.
between the feb. 11 world cup qualifier (usa > mexico 2-0) and this gold cup final, mexico's roster only had dos santos and medina in common, but dos santos did score today. while we can no longer tout how we're undefeated on american soil against mexico for 10 years, i don't think anyone in the us soccer program is devastated by losing the gold cup. the tournament was good practice for our lower-level international players, but besides holden (who looked great in all of his caps - i wish he'd played against honduras in group play, that game and the panama game were the only ones i was able to go to) i don't think we have many good a-team prospects. i hope bob bradley isn't considering putting ching on the world cup roster - he's played terribly this whole tournament, save for that nice header in the honduras game. 7/26/2009 8:45:21 PM |
