I clicked on this thread to read about Google Voice since my buddy just sent me an invite today

I must say, I had to LOL when I read that quagmire has been using this for awhile

Considering he's getting a new cellphone and doesn't even want a smartphone!

Damn ATT and Apple rejected the google voice app for the iphone. Citing it duplicated features already available in the iphone. What crap. At least I am still able to keep GV mobile free I downloaded a few weeks ago.

It was also added to Cydia today so if you didn't get it before now, you still can.

I only tried a couple of test calls to goog411, but it worked fine for me.

You do know that the application itself doesn't make the call right? All it does is initiate GV to call your phone and the number you specify and then connect the two. So basically once you press call your phone should start ringing.

I use a WinMo app - MagiCall that between the hours of 7:00 - 19:00 will dial my GV, pause, enter my PIN, pause and then pseduo-instantly enter the entire number and hit pound. Outbound calls take about 3 seconds longer than usual and I still don't see it working for me in the way that most people are after it. "OMG FREE INCOMING AND OUTGOING NO MORE ANYTIME MINUTEZ!!!111"

Sprint's Ensemble barely gives me credit for every other pick 3 number I call, all incoming calls while displayed on my CallerID as GV Number, show up in their billing system as Unavailable. It's 5 days into my cycle and i'm at 241/500 lol. Whoops!

At least I'll have the semi-difficult perk Pick-3 if I ever decide to sell my SERO or clone it to another line. I suspect soon something is going to happen with all of this nonsense. Carriers are going to get PISSED and/or Google is going to bait and switch.

Shaggy why the fuck can't I get my SIP phone working with pfSense? There's no DMZ unless I add another NIC.

I have outbound static NAT set for 5060, but it still won't register.

you shouldn't need to poke any holes in your firewall to do SIP if you're using an external provider. Some (magicjacK) just keep their shit in the open so it doesn't matter if your side is behind a firewall. Gizmo uses a stun server which means it doesn't matter if either side of the call is behind NAT.

This is my line1 config on my pap2:

SIP Port: 5060
Proxy: proxy01.sipphone.com:5060
Register: yes
Make Call Without Reg: no
Register Expires: 3600
Ans Call Without Reg: no
Display Name:
User ID: 17474725522
Password: gizmopw
Use Auth ID: no
Auth ID:

On the SIP tab (in advanced view mode)
stun server is set to: stun01.sipphone.com:3478
and stun enable is set to yes.

Yeah I thought the NAT traversal/STUN thing eliminated that nonsense too. Weird it still wasn't registering though. I saw the firewall blocking all kinds of connection attempts from the STUN server and the sip.proxy.whatever I got pissed and gave up until the next time i'm in the office.

btw, business card offer is back up.

Just found the link in my GV account and ordered mine. The link (if it is available for you) should be right under where it displays the Calling Credit, so lower left hand corner of the home page.

i just got pick 3 enabled today - so you're saying it doesn't matter if i change the feature to show the google voice number on my incoming caller id because sprint still won't recognize it?

if so, then does the calling card method you use with magiccall work with pick 3? I can just tell people i'll call them right back if it's free. i use gvdialer instead, but same method - it dials your voice number, presses 2, etc. etc.

Yeah dude, you can definitely streamline free outgoing calls no problem. I can throw you my Magicall cab and filterset if I didn't post the PPCGeeks thread with it already. It's so much better than anything else because you can actually set it to filter your other two picks, 911, *2, *4, etc. Also I only have mine enabled for 7am-7pm M-F.

I'm only upset that for whatever reason all incoming calls show Unavailable with respect to ensemble, but that's fine I don't think I'm going to spend much more than my FF1250 plan came to and I just have to survive this billing cycle. Too many people have my cell and call that before trying my other lines. Once I get my SIP phone working in the office I might consider trying to stick with FF500.

Anyway, I realized since the legacy SERO plan has such badass roaming perks, I'm on other carrier's networks over 60% of the time. This is why my pick 3 minutes have been so hit or miss, I'm pretty sure for it to count, you have to be on the Sprint network.

Great concept to cheat the system, I feel a bit dirty even attempting it, but in the end it's just not practical enough to justify the 20.00/month I would be saving by limiting my calling freedom.

So I order my cards, and they sent me the confirmation email. I looked at the proof and I left out a letter in my email address. Thankfully gmail still had it. Just my luck.
