Obama was making the point that success in Afghanistan will not come in the form of a singular event. That's all he was saying. But by all means, don't let that stop you from making an ass of yourself.

yes we're aware of what he wants us to think he meant. we're talking about what he said though

Now, I realize that there are some people out there who will argue that, because Obama hesitates to use the term victory, then he must therefore be seeking defeat in Afghanistan. I know people will argue this. I also know that those people are fucking stupid.
