I like Fat Tire and will drink it when it's on tap, but I don't really go bat shit for it. Sweetwater on the other hand...well every time I pass through Greensboro I have to hit up a HT and buy at least a case.PS: I hear Trippel is quite tasty.

Fat tire tastes like fat, stanky ass[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 7:17 PM. Reason : /gross]
7/28/2009 7:17:03 PM
colorado fat tire >> national fat tire
7/28/2009 7:18:45 PM
I like Fat Tire so...
7/28/2009 7:42:23 PM
the internets tell me that this is an ale, thusly i see know justification for snobbery
7/28/2009 7:47:37 PM
I like Fat Tire, but I like their 1554 a lot better.
7/28/2009 7:58:41 PM
Has anyone tried Foothill Brewing in W/S?
7/28/2009 8:12:25 PM
i have never had a fat tire
7/28/2009 8:12:55 PM
Fat Tire is just a popular fad beer, it's okay but nothing to write home about in my opinion. And I feel like I have a valid opinion on this topic because I've tasted hundreds of beers and have 200+ of the bottles to prove it
7/28/2009 8:34:05 PM
I like New Belgium's wheat beer better...the name escapes me though.
7/28/2009 8:44:11 PM
7/28/2009 8:49:07 PM
Manny's Pale Ale is better than Fat Tire any day.and Rainier Beer in a 16 oz tallboy is better than any ale in the summer when it's 90 degrees.
7/28/2009 9:01:40 PM
It's also worth noting that I'd rather support local craft breweries than ones outside of this region.Aviator, Foothills, Big Boss, French Broad, Highland, and Duck-Rabbit all make good shit.
7/28/2009 9:06:30 PM
^Big Boss Bad Penny is one of my favorites right now. I liked their Big Operator a lot, but its a seasonal and isn't around right now.
7/28/2009 9:12:06 PM

i mean, i feel that most times with beer you get what you pay for. steel reserve is only marginally potable until you remember how much you paid for it, then it suddenly tastes a lot better.

7/29/2009 2:04:07 PM
7/29/2009 2:04:44 PM
oh i meant whoever bumped it earlier.

I love arguing, and I love beer. this thread is perfect

7/29/2009 2:10:03 PM
I like red oak, but they only make 3 styles (and that is if they still make that cidar... don't know if they do)- if they had more, I think they could be considered the best
7/29/2009 2:12:02 PM
I like Foothills stuff (what I've had at the RBC center was damn tasty), but I wouldn't use the GABF to vouch for quality. fwiw Miller Geniune Draft has won awards there and that is about as shitty as beer gets.^um... so you've never tried any DuckRabbit stuff? or Big boss? Red Oak is nice and all, but c'mon..[Edited on July 29, 2009 at 2:15 PM. Reason : red oak]
7/29/2009 2:15:00 PM
New Belgium Skinny Dip > Fat Tire IMHNBSOThat being said, if you like it . . . drink it. If you limit yourself to "in" beers (or anything for that matter) based on other peoples equally unqualified opinions then you miss the whole point of drinking beer.]
7/29/2009 2:16:32 PM
^^i personally like their two big beers better than any of that other stuffand yes, i've had all those (and many other NC brews)- I like some of Big Boss's stuff (I love going to Horniblows), and Duck Rabbit is alright in my opinion.... this is all just IMO stuff[Edited on July 29, 2009 at 2:17 PM. Reason : ^]
7/29/2009 2:17:20 PM
Foothills makes some really good beers. i think i prefer Highland Brewery, though. Duck Rabbit is probably 3rd in the state for me, although their brown ale is top notch.
7/29/2009 2:18:50 PM
7/29/2009 2:19:16 PM
Foothills Seeing Double IPA is pretty damn good
7/29/2009 2:20:08 PM
truth
7/29/2009 2:21:52 PM
7/29/2009 2:21:54 PM
my friend brews better beer than Red Oak
7/29/2009 2:23:06 PM
Red Oak is crap, so is #9 (another fucking fad crappy apricot bullshit fruit beer)
7/29/2009 2:35:20 PM
oh yeah, most everything in here is opinion. But some things are true: #9 is for women and Fat Tire is the new Yuengling.
7/29/2009 3:06:36 PM
everyone has their own taste... you all need to get over yourselvesI dont prefer most IPAs, but I'm not gonna come in here and say "your foothills IPA is bitter dog piss"I like darker beers with a little sweetness to them, so sue meI've had 1000's of different types of beers (been on many tours, been to many tastings and festivals, and Im almost done with my 3rd plate at the saucer)- I've tried alot of these things... they werent for me, but that doesn't mean that they are "shit" if they were "shit" then no one would by them and you wouldn't see them anymore. Red Oak is a very popular beer, as is #9 despite what you may think about it. The only reason you have seen less red oak around is because they had to raise the price of their beer to offset the brewery expansions/updates, not because it is "a crap beer"i say fuck all you fat tire beer snobs^I agree with your statement about fat tire/yeungling btw[Edited on July 29, 2009 at 3:14 PM. beer snobs are almost as bad as music snobs.
7/29/2009 3:23:09 PM
7/29/2009 3:26:02 PM
that sounds familiar- i think i might have had iti'll still give it a go friday when i go out to saucer for lunch
7/29/2009 3:29:50 PM
Stone brews some good ass beers.
7/29/2009 3:30:31 PM
yeah definitely, they consistently impress methey make a great imperial russian stout, as well. keep an eye out for it, Bio.given your tastes i'd also recommend arrogant bastard -- pretty solid aleStone in general makes awesome fucking beer
7/29/2009 3:31:52 PM
i like their arrogant bastard ale- i need to let it warm up/air out some when i get it though (takes away some of the hoppy bite)
7/29/2009 3:33:07 PM
you guys are pathetic, drink some water once in awhile Jesus
7/29/2009 3:34:06 PM
i drink light beers occasionally.
7/29/2009 3:34:53 PM
water snobs are almost as bad as beer snobs
7/29/2009 3:35:06 PM
Im gonna throw in Carolina Beer Company (aka carolina Blonde) for names of local brewers (not the same as carolina brewing company (aka carolina pale ale)carolina blonde is garbage but their Cottonwood Endo (IPA) is prob one of my favorite beers
