Above 200 isn't, 250...not so sure. Formula One (and probably other racing series drivers) typically have heart rates over 200 for the entire duration of the race. I've had mine over 190 while running 7 miles on a treadmill, though I'm not sure how accurate that thing is.

I think my resting heart rate is around 90, but I don't remember really.

Good fucking lord... get yourself checked out then! When I'm running full speed on the treadmill for an extended period of time I rarely get over 170...

^^Okay I found a linked article that says they keep it (on average) above 180bpm the entire race, and it also says that when they're qualifying it can be 50bpm above that. Impressive, but yeah I was wrong.

I've got coffee in my system right now, and recently have been stressed out a lot so taking my heart rate right now wouldn't be very accurate. In my workouts I've been doing a lot of cardio and can knock out 11-12 miles on a bike without exceeding a heartrate of 155 so it's improved.

I have pretty good blood pressure (114/80 roughly) so I'm not terribly concerned.

Here's a better link/article:

Quote :
"David Coulthard (Red Bull Racing Team) has a resting heart rate of 40 beats/minute, rising to 198 beats/minute during a two hour race, a figure - approximately the same as that of a marathon runner crossing the finishing line - which initially stunned medical researchers.

Dr Riccardo Ceccarelli, from Italian sports medicine clinic 'Formula Medicine' and of the Panasonic Toyota Racing Team, explains why a high speed drive can be as challenging as a 26 mile run.

Dr. Riccardo Ceccarelli "The difference is one of mental stress. There is no sport that demands such intense concentration. A huge amount of adrenalin is being pumped, and this - as well as the physical strain - causes the high heart rate."

The body's ability to cope with such extremes is a result of intensive workout and so drivers undergo cardiovascular exercise for up to four hours a day: jogging, cycling, rollerblading.... This also helps to keep weight in check - a driver such as David Coulthard maintain a body fat ratio of 7%, similar to that of a runner at the start of a race."
