Finally got around to watching it last night. I enjoyed it. Every time Seth McFarlane spoke I imagined Brian saying it, it was a little hard to take seriously, heh. And wtf was with the kangaroo?

Finally got around to watching it last night. I enjoyed it.

But what was the cause for half the buildings in LA, DC, Paris, etc.. to be smoking and burning ?

Surely 2 mins of human blackout couldn't have caused the buildings' power grids to blow up

Yeah, we saw the one helicopter, but at least 7-8 skyscrapers were in flames







Also, just checked and you guessed it, April 29th is on a Thursday, so hopefully this show will progess in real time, to an extent

the only thing i assumed about the buildings being on fire is that they exaggerated on scenarios where people had their gas stoves on, or irons on, or were smoking inside. things like that where 2 minutes with no supervision could in a very unlikely event cause a fire.

Yeah I wouldn't bet on that

Most planes that crashed were probably just taking off or landing

If a plane is 30000 feet up, it wont crash due to two minutes of pilot inactivity

and apparently someone important died on Air Force Two, so hopefully it was at a low altitude, for accuracy's sake

its way too early to start ragging on the show for supposed plot holes of minor details.

a show has to prove itself to be incredibly accurate and planned out before one can execute that behavior.

e.g. the ibm selectrics that were used in mad men and caused such a stir because they were being used 6months prior to when actually released.

^I initially thought that maybe they would make it so that Lost and Flash Forward were in the same universe and maybe they would try and have some kind of crazy crossover down the road, but since Penny and Charlie are both cast members in FF, it would never work.

i dont know much about how autopilot works when controls are manipulated manually, but maybe when the pilots lost consciousness they slumped over and hit a throttle lever or something lol

if planes were on approach to land, then unmanned they would crash (unless you used autopilot). if they were just orbiting waiting for their turn to land, they would most likely be on autopilot.

Yeah, I do find it odd that nobody reported the fact that they found one man who was walking around during the flashforwards. I guess they assumed that there was nobody to report it to as they were leading the investigation anyways. What still pisses me off about that is the fact that you have to zoom in like 5 times to even see the guy moving, how exactly did the girl find him. If she at least said something about using some BS computer system to identify humans moving in security cameras it would have been a little more believable.

sounds like people are annoyed because you are an ass that spoils shows, not because of the show itself.


I think this show would be much more interesting/plausible if it was just one city or just the us that blacked out as opposed to the entire world. How are they going to go about explaining someone causing the entire world to black out without affecting their team. I'm leaning towards reptillions or some form of alien/demigod superrace.

well lost they were on a mysterious supernatural island to begin with. Its not like supernatural things happened to everyone in the world from the jump. Thats a big difference and this show won't get nearly as much love as lost for that simple difference.

me too, now the problem is, since she knows in her vision its going to be a girl, she won't need to ask what the babies gender is in the future, but that would stop her from asking it in the future......

the opposite acutally. i watch a lot of tv. i just dont have a schedule that allows me to get into tv shows while they're airing new episodes. i usually spend most of my time watching reruns of old shows, reality tv or discovery channel stuff

I think she will still ask what the baby is in the future, even though she already knows.

it seems like people know the future is coming, but they are still hesitant to grasp it. (just like the guy throwing about the friendship bracelet). i bet the little girl notices that he lost it and makes him another one just like it.

The lady will probably still ask what gender the baby is and then she cries when she hears the answer because she realizes that everything is happening just like she envisioned it and the future is inevitable

and i thought the guy's quote was eery..."he who foresees calamities suffers them twice over"

when he's d gibbons maybe he wears a mask. I'm betting D gibbons kidnaps the little girl forcing main guy to drink and penelope to leave/blame him. Thats the only explanation for her never seeing the man her mother is in love with.

I'm liking this show... I never watched Lost (didn't have time and didn't have DVR in California) so I don't know about the comparisons, but this is pretty decent. Makes me want to keep watching with the end of show cliffhangers to this point.

^^another theory from someone else is that D. gibbons kidnaps the two kids, which is why Lloyd is at Mark's house with olivia, and he gets bad info from his cell phone

which explains why charlie knows gibbons and dylan
but another good point is that Dylan's autism may have allowed him to see more (or further into the future) than others

i wonder how much it's going to borrow from/follow the book. i'm not gonna lie, i read the synopsis of it on wikipedia, ha. so far there's not a whole lot, just the actual blackout and flash forwards.

but then again, i didn't read the book or anything.

i read the book

the only similarities so far are

-there is a blackout, people die and disaster is had bc people are passed out at the controls of airplanes, cars etc.
-people have flashforwards. in the book its 21 years in the future, so for the show they just made it shorter.
-some people don't have flashforwards and are assumed dead (asian dude on the show as a similar character in the book)
-the mosaic is created to link flashforwards and give people more information about their own flashforward


as more similarities (if any) surface, i can post what they are. however, i think the show is taking a totally different direction from the book and will have fewer similarities as the episodes air

i have only seen the second episode and was simply pointing out the similarities in the book because someone else expressed interest

its not a spoiler to point out what has already been revealed by the second episode
