makes sense. it looked like the hyper coaster track like on millennium force.if its a hyper (or giga) coaster, I can't wait to ride it

Which one is Nighthawk? I haven't been to Carowinds since Paramount sold it.
8/14/2009 6:24:09 PM
nighthawk i think is the coaster formerly known as the borg assimilator.[Edited on August 14, 2009 at 6:40 PM. Reason : stupid poor grammar]

I never went on that one. Oddly enough it was always a 2 hour wait in line when I could have rode Thunder Road forwards or backwards probably 20 times in a row without having to get off instead. Outside of peak times (after like 5 or 6) you could often do the same thing with Top Gun.

Nighthawk/Borg has terrible capacity and mechanical problems pretty frequently. It is actually the original prototype flying coaster Stealth from Great America in California that opened in 2000. They relocated it to Carowinds in 2004. It's a decent ride I guess, but can really beat the hell out of you. Next year's coaster will definitely put Carowinds on the map. It's going to dwarf everything in the park.

^anything like the Hurler beats the shit out of you on that one turn where everyone gets nasty whiplash?
8/14/2009 7:13:28 PM
Different kind of beating. I actually like the Hurler and don't really mind that kind of roughness. Nighthawk bangs your head around a lot, especially if you are sitting on the outside ends of the car.

How did you get a media pass? Is that the surprise in the mail, or did you get "drawn?" You probably got one anyway because they felt sorry for everything you've had to put up with for the last month . . .

For Carowinds Connection. If I figure out how to set my phone up with Twitter I'm gonna post live updates during the press conference. Pretty sure the site is going to crash that day, though.

Well the new Kings Dominion coaster is going to be a joke. Most disappointing ride announcement I have ever seen. Whoopty doo it's 300 feet tall but then there is nothing to the ride but a bunch of boring low to the ground turns. Complete with painful over the shoulder restraints.

I can't believe they put OTSRs on that thing. What a boring layout. I bet the KD fanboys are pissed.

a huge drop into a 270 degree turn? LAME

I went on a launch coaster called Mr. Freeze at six flags, the launch part was awesome, but the ride shook like a motherfucker on the rest of the ride, beat your head side to side against the bars on both sides. It was brand new then so maybe they fixed it now.

SO FUCKING SWEETComing to Carowinds in 2010.The previous largest investment in the history of the park was Top Gun, which was $10 million. This is $23 million. This will be the 8th tallest roller coaster in North America and the 9th fastest. The tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster in the Southeast.http://intimidator.carowinds.com/public/downloads/videos.cfm
8/26/2009 2:05:06 PM
What do they use to design those? Rollercoaster Tycoon?
8/26/2009 2:25:40 PM
It's about time carowinds jumped on the bandwagon for the tallest, fastest. It only took them what...10 years?...15 years? What a shithole.
8/26/2009 2:39:19 PM
i was thinking the same thing about roller coaster tycoon.does anyone have that game? is it any good?
8/26/2009 2:42:51 PM
Carowinds used to be all about some religious retreat shit. At least now they're trying to melt our faces with roller coasters instead of gospel group nobody's ever heard of for 3 shows a day.
