The Eagles are just scared of the Giants defense...this was a panic signing.

In an ESPN article, apparently a protester's sign ... "Hide your Beagle, Vick's an Eagle!"

Philly has some of the most off the field reported offenses, so one analyst made a reference that Philly will be a "half way house" for MV.

I have family from Philly and so I called my grandfather to tell him the news and he said that he's no longer an Eagles fan, he said he'll only pull for the Panthers now.

I think McNabb is perfectly good and that picking up Vick just gives more shit for people to talk about Philly, who already has a terrible rep

anyone who abandons their team because a person joins it after having served time in our legal system wasn't a fan to begin with. the legal system made an example out of Vick and he has done his time. no sense in trying to ruin someones life. he has a lot of positive potential outside of prison if he is truly sincere.

^^it has more to do with the despicable actions that led to his prison time rather than the simple fact he served time. i'm not saying I would give up the Panthers had they signed him, rather that I can certainly see how lifelong fans of the Eagles may give them up because they signed Vick, some people are really passionate about animal cruelty.

Actually I'm happy to move to Philly. I'm staying in the center of the city in Chinatown. Crime isn't real big in that area. Also my place is nice and has huge ceilings. I will miss Charlotte, and all the people and things about it that I love. The only place that I know of that sells sweet tea around here is McDonald's.

Well, he was never a particularly good QB to begin with so he's hardly a threat to McNabb's starting job. I guess now the Eagles will have an injury prone backup for their injury prone QB and an injury prone backup for their injury prone pseudo RB, but they only had to sign one guy. Brilliant!

I am an Eagles fan and I am excited about this....Vick is a lot better than McNabb and he is going to fit great in that system, McNabb has great games but chokes from time to time, Vick is more consistant....how come Vick gets so much crap for this but nobody gives a damn about what Dante Stallworth did....but in the end it is all about the Eagles winning, that's all that needs to happen

I love it. I really hope you get what you want. It's going to be hilarious when he plays and people realize how bad of a quarterback he is. He was hyped up and treated like a golden god so much he was protected to a certain degree, but now that he fucked up he's not going to be given an inch.

Unless, unless, it turns out that he really has changed and really means it when he says he's remorseful, and he actually commits to being a professional. I really do hope that happens. Society loves nothing more than a redemption story. It'd be cool to see him reach his full potential with all the pieces on the Eagles offense.

They like the initial collapse a LOT more. But when that's not happening, redemption works well, too.

Also, if ESPN is any indicator, society loves absolutely nothing more than a Brett Favre story.

Wow, this is a TWW gem right here.

See Dante Stallworth. Who actually killed a PERSON, and how Goodell is dealing with that.

"OH BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN!!" That gets so old.

their loss i guess

people are going to want the Vick Jersey.

I don't know why people won't give up on this protest against Vick. It hasn't stopped him from getting signed, it won't stop him from playing, it pretty much won't make a difference at all.....

it is not "no earlier than week 6"

the commissioner has to make his decision on Vick by week 6. He could decide to reinstate Vick tomorrow. He could decide at week 6 to not reinstate him at all.

No I wasn't aware of that, I don't really follow sports.

Oh yeah, I remember when Leonard Little and Dante Stallworth had that human fighting ring where they drowned dudes and forced rapes

Oh yeah and they both made lots of tax free money off the peoples deaths too

i'm a) responding to a troll alias, and b) pointing out why vick was locked up (tax evasion)

some people still can't get past the simple "humans > dogs" aspect, so they're not willing to actually understand the legal reasons for Vick's sentence

Theres this thing called intent...which NFL players have intentionally killed people? Last I checked they were fatal accidents...didn't know Little or Stallworth went out for the intention of killing people

[Edited on September 30, 2009 at 7:26 PM. Reason : but all this shit has been discussed ad nauseum in a dozen other threads]

I'm sure people have a problem the thought of having someone who once evaded taxes play in the nfl, being endorsed and etc despite doing the time.

Quote :
"which NFL players have intentionally killed people? Last I checked they were fatal accidents...didn't know Little or Stallworth went out for the intention of killing people"

Intent doesn't mean anything if you neglected care for human life leading to the loss of a human life. Do you think telling a family that nobody meant for their loved one to die makes them feel warmer inside? "I didn't mean to kill your sister, I only intended to drive myself home drunk from the bar" Would that fly?

Also, anyone who hunts, wears fur, or eats meats knowingly participates in the intentional killing of animals which is completely fine, because they are animals and the lives of animals aren't significant. If you aren't willing to distinguish a difference between animals and people then you are worse than peta. Who's the troll?

Vick did the crime, did the time and that should be the end of it. It should never be mentioned again because there are no lingering affects from what he did. There are however, family members of people who were killed that still don't have their family member.

[Edited on September 30, 2009 at 7:35 PM. Reason : intent inshment]

no but apparently the family of the victim of Stallworth's vehicular manslaughter were down to take cash and not pursue a lawsuit

Quote :

Intent plays heavily in the legal process...you can take that up with your local legislators if you don't like it

Leonard Little paid his debt...it should never be mentioned again...why did you bring it up?

Really? he restored the human life? and I didn't bring him up, you did. I didn't even know who he was.

and i'm sure teh victim is content with being dead as long as his family got some cash.

The dude was going to die anyways!! He ran out in front of Stallworth's car. His drinking had nothing to do with it...it was just unfortunate for him he had a couple drinks in his system.

And he also manned up and took responsibility for his actions and didn't try to skirt the issue and act like a little bitch like Plaxico and Vick did. He stopped and tried to help the man, he called 911, and he went to court as soon as possible. If there was an opportunity for Vick to get away with everything, he'd still be playing for the Falcons to this day after having intentionally tortured and killed dozens of dogs while making money off of it.
