I don't think anyone who throws the personal insults around like you do is interested in serious conversation.

joe schmoe felt compelled to point out when you actually made a pleasant post (or at least non-abrasive post): message_topic.aspx?topic=573780&page=1#13175737

You making a pleasant post is extraordinary enough that people noticed and felt the need to comment on it.

You should probably think about that.

Sick of being trolled? Are you drunk? Did you get your adderall mixed up with your viagra, go to fuck your wife and suddenly start flipping the hell out?

You said

And that is categorically false.

Then, you took the biggest backpedal I've ever seen and tried to claim that Bowles said it.

You

Just who the fuck do you think we are? We all see the strict adherence to grammar and formality in your posts and we all know if you wanted to convey to us something Bowles said, it would be quoted, or bolded, or italicized or some other indication to let us know that it was his words, not yours.

No.

You did none of that.

UNC system-specific information:

Administrator growth outpaces teachers at UNC
Posted: 08/17/2009

Quote :
"Personnel records show significant growth in third- and fourth-tier management jobs.

NCSU, for example, had four assistant vice provosts in 2004; last year it had 10. Similarly, the university had five assistant vice chancellors in 2004; last year it had eight.

At UNC-CH, in addition to the associate vice chancellor growth, the number of assistant vice chancellors grew from zero to 14 in that period. (In the university pecking order, an associate outranks an assistant.)

None of these administrators made less than $75,000 last year, except for a part-time assistant vice chancellor at NCSU who worked half-weeks for $69,000."

Quote :
"At UNCG, an information technology director, Gloria E. Thornton, has climbed the administrative ladder since 2005. She is now an associate vice chancellor in IT who earned $159,724 last year; that's $64,774 more than she earned prior to entering upper administration, according to payroll records. Donna Heath, a programmer, saw her pay more than double, to $128,000, when she became an interim associate vice chancellor in information technology services in 2005."

Quote :
"Four years ago, Vicki Pennington was an administrative manager within the provost's office at NCSU. She made $65,866. But when she was promoted to assistant vice provost, her salary shot up more than 20 percent to $80,000. She now makes $105,725 a year. NCSU officials say she has taken on responsibilities of two other assistant vice provost positions that were abolished."

Okay, since shithead above can only throw doo-doo at the issue, here's the reality:

This:

CEO Firings On the Rise As Downturn Gains Steam

Versus this:

As economy suffers, bureaucratic ranks growing at UNC
University leaders, lawmakers say tough times should bring cuts in bureaucracy.
Aug. 17, 2009

Quote :
"This decade has been good for associate vice chancellors at UNC Chapel Hill.

Their numbers have nearly doubled, from 10 to 19, and the money paid to them has more than tripled, to a total of nearly $4 million a year.

The university now admits that some of these people were in jobs that were not vital. They represent the rapid management growth in the 16-campus UNC system that has added tens of millions of dollars to annual payrolls.
"

Quote :
"Administrators are among the best-paid people on the campuses, typically earning $100,000 or more.

Systemwide over the past five years, the administrative ranks have grown by 28 percent, from 1,269 administrative jobs to 1,623 last year, UNC-system data shows. That's faster than the growth of faculty and other teaching positions — 24 percent — and faster than student enrollment at 14 percent."

Quote :
"The number of people with provost or chancellor in their titles alone has increased by 34 percent the past five years, from 312 in 2004 to 418 last year. The cost was $61.1 million, up $25 million from five years before."

i'm just making fun of you for saying that 25% = 1%. and claiming that it should be obvious to everyone else.

top percentile (ie what percentile actually means. 1%) is $350,000 + according to the us census bureau in 2005.

and this website shows median salaries for education administrators for secondary and elementary schools as topping out around $100,000 per year (with 20 years experience):

Median annual wage for Education Administrators, Postsecondary: $80,670

1. Education administrators do make too much, but their salaries don't even begin to compare to CEO pay.

2. Suggesting that education administrators need their compensation investigated is silly because we already know their salaries. It's a matter of public record.

3. Suggesting the House Committee on Energy and Commerce should limit the pay is also silly since education administrators are state employees, and their pay is already limited by their respective states.

4. "Upper percentile" is not a figure of speech.

That's just a brief summary of all the points that hooksaw is continuing to ignore in this thread. Instead, we're getting treated to arguments that include the words, "stupid fucking stooge who never does anything but talk out of his ass" and "eat shit and died in a house fire, you bald-headed idiot troll fuck."

1. The latter part of that sentence is irrelevant. It's not what's being argued. (And the former is a normative statement and is unprovable.)

2. I didn't call for an investigation. I simply sarcastically questioned whether there would ever be a call for an investigation and salary limits by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce--I did this to make a point.

3. And? Private companies set their own salaries, too. What gives the House Committee on Energy and Commerce the right to force companies to limit their executives' compensation? Because of federal money? Educational institutions also receive all sorts of federal money.

4. Yes, in this context it is. I was simply using the expression in a nonliteral way--if you don't like it, I don't really give a good goddamn.

^^ I already did--read or piss off.

Education administrators don't come close

Average Chancellor salary, 238,341

http://swz.salary.com/salarywizard/layouthtmls/swzl_compresult_national_ED03000017.html

Average CEO salary of the S&P 500 15.2 million

http://www.forbes.com/2007/05/03/ceo-executive-compensation-lead-07ceo-cx_sd_0503ceocompensationintro.html

Since you're math challenged, I did the ratio for you, that is 63.77 times what Chancellors make.

And since you'll probably cry that I picked a bubble year, we can go back to 2006 where the stock options weren't as valuable and see it was still 8.7 million, a paltry 36.5 times.

also

Your comparing education administrators that probably have some graduate degree or education to the gamut of american workers, a large portion of which are not educated. A better comparison would be education administrators to other workers with similar education.

Im not saying that makes the administrators any more competent or productive than an uneducated worker, but in most cases people with a higher education are going to make more money.

You were the one saying the top percentile. It's not just a figure of speech, as you say, it means, well, THE TOP PERCENTILE. Everybody above the 99th percentile.

You fuckers keep up the clown parade. It's like watching a freak show.

^^ This is the position, dummy:

Feel free to prove this wrong or STFU. And none of you can and you know it.

"Your comparing education administrators that probably have some graduate degree or education to the gamut of american workers, a large portion of which are not educated."

Are you stupid or something? This comparison is the very point.

Education administrators don't come close

Average Chancellor salary, 238,341

http://swz.salary.com/salarywizard/layouthtmls/swzl_compresult_national_ED03000017.html

Average CEO salary of the S&P 500 15.2 million

http://www.forbes.com/2007/05/03/ceo-executive-compensation-lead-07ceo-cx_sd_0503ceocompensationintro.html

Since you're math challenged, I did the ratio for you, that is 63.77 times what Chancellors make.

And since you'll probably cry that I picked a bubble year, we can go back to 2006 where the stock options weren't as valuable and see it was still 8.7 million, a paltry 36.5 times.
