How can you honestly compare Helms/Strom to Ted in good conscience, considering the fact that they both tried to prevent equal rights for millions of minorities in America? You are basically trying to compare calculated pre-meditation with a heat-of-the-moment fail. That's not logical son.

Personally, I'm not comparing any of their political beliefs or actions in life. I'm simply saying that to get upset with people who are saying shit about Ted Kennedy at the time of his death and then say that it was justified to say the same stuff about someone else at the time of their death doesn't add up to me.

To me, killing someone (accidentally) because you were drunk as shit is a horrible, horrible thing. I fucking hated Thrumond and Helms as politicians. They were archaic and I personally felt embarrassed as a resident of NC to be represented by Helms, though he did improve with age slightly (he was involved with an AIDS project for instance). But I wouldn't be HAPPY that he passed away just like I'm not HAPPY that Kennedy passed away.

I just think it is a tad bit hypocritical to be up in arms over people saying stuff about Kennedy, who made a grievous mistake as a young man, and then act like it is perfectly justified to say it about someone else...

you can probably reasonably come to realize that Ted Kennedy did some wonderful things for those who didn't have a voice in our country as a Senator and really came into his own under the immense weights and pressures of the expectations and horrible things that happened to his family

and also made quite a few horrible choices along the way that irrevocably diminished his reputation from what it could have been...

most people on the Hill respected him even if they didnt agree with him or approve of every specific thing he did with his life.

I didn't say shit about Helms when he died, but I will say now he was a racist prick and I hated the fact that his hometown shared a border with mine. He only slowed down the political evolution of our country and kept minorities down.

Ted Kennedy may have been responsible for a woman's death, but I'm not comparing racism to murder. I'm comparing strictly political careers, which comes out to
Helms/Thurmand dyeing = don't really give a shit, its about time
Ted kennedy dyeing = to see him go, but not like it was unexpected
